Greta win, sounds as though it was a committed performance with lots of positives all over the park. Did Frimpong come on and if so how did he look. Well done to Martin Jol and his team. Would I be right in saying that we played with Rodders up top and Ruiz and Berba playing behind him ? Would make perfect sense to me.
So pleased that Jol finally saw sense and played with a striker up front and Berbatov/Ruiz behind. I thought Rodallega was outstanding to be honest. Riether, Hangeland and Duff too. Great performance and even better result!
No, our substitutes were Baird, Dejagah & Petric. Yes. Hugo played really well today, in my opinion. It was telling that all three of our goals came from strikers actually attacking the ball in the area, something that we've not seen enough of in the past few months.
First match for 2 months, and a great win. Ruiz a totally lazy b......,my man, men of the match Rodders, and Reither, but some solid performances from Brede,Duff, Berb & JAR. If not this window then, the summer recess we need a goalkeeper. 90% of MS kicks went to the oposition, and a quality defender, and creative midfielder.
Totally relieved and exhausted after that. Team looked committed and there were some good performances. Sure there are some nagging issues - MS kicks, midfield issues and an off day for Ruiz but we won and that was most important. The crowd were behind the team and it was a good atmosphere. Another major positive was the number of shots we had which for so many games previous have been almost non existent. Good result, good attitude and good committment. Hopefully this will do something for confidence and we can move on.
At last Jol decided to try something different as he indicated in his interview. The system is more attacking and putting pressure to the opposition but also means more pressure for the defense which they handled it well at points. We started very lively with a sign of commitment yesterday. Great win which hopefully will turn our season around. COYW
Who needs the Fulham Chickens when you have the inside of the back cover of yesterdays programme, advertising 20% off the team shirts....Berbatov........Petric ...and Rodallega... A good game last night. At times I was worried as we were defending too deep (as usual) and Schwarzer's kicks were coming straight back again. Senderos settled better after a poor 15 minutes. Duff gave better cover to Riise than he normally gets from Kaca and did really well for the second goal. Sidwell tackling was suspect, but Kara was all over the place like a wasp. And again Ruiz was too deep and kept losing the ball in dangerous positions. Mr Consistant Riether had a good game against a tricky Jarvis. Hugo led the front line well and got in a few good runs. Poor old Berba tweeked his hamstring trying to run, wonder if it's because we play ManU on Saturday. http://www.fulhamfc.com/news/2013/january/31/west-ham-highlights Having seen the highlights looks like you have to give the Petric goal as an own goal, as it hit the post and was going out as O'Brien raced in.
When the teams came out for the warm up I got quite excited - Digger was among the squad! Then I saw the starting XI doing their little ticky-tacky game and thought - oh no, heâs reverted to the same old system, nothings changed. WRONG! The key change was Duff on the left. The general shape was an attacking 4-4-2 but more to the point we did attack and indeed there was a fighting spirit in the team all night. Losing a sloppy goal early in the second half there were no signs of âhere we go againâ, instead we re-acted the way of earlier in the season and hit straight back. Just to emphasise the desire last night, can anybody remember the last time Fulham scored three goals from inside three yards? Agree with SuperBri about individual players. Bryan was pretty awful and fair play to Jol for taking him off. Schwarzerâs kicking brought the only real âgroansâ of the night. Thatâs about it for negatives. Riether was just great and Kara as well as being a bundle of energy does a grand job at rattling the opposition. Dejagah when he came on looked strong and yes, he lacks a bit of vision, but isnât it good to see someone running at he opposition. We made some individual mistakes which could have been costly, as could some of Mr Foyâs decisions. However it was a real team effort. How good it feels to be able to say that ! Another lift before the start of the game, as well as seeing Simon Davies in the squad, was MAF coming out for his salute - although it has to be said his walk across the pitch was even shorter than usual.
Here are the video highlights of last night's game - http://www.fulhamfc.com/news/2013/january/31/west-ham-highlights
Winning with a marginally offside goal is not something I enjoy!!! Actually I do as we have been on the wrong end quite a few times. Nolan was complaining about it. Anything about the foul their goal came from that only Foy saw? Come on you Whites....
