Valid point but your reasoning is iffy. We have a better manager because Di Canio is a loose canon? One could describe a lot of managers as 'loose canons' such as Mourinho but it has no effect on their ability to manage a team. I think Di Canio showed enough at the end of last season to prove to people he is capable of doing a decent job this season with Sunderland. And Martin Jol is not a 'safe pair of hands' as last season we were perilously close to the relegation zone.
I'm not sure I'd regard Mourinho as a loose cannon. He's been too consistently successful for that. My point was more that with Di Canio is can go spectacularly right or spectacularly wrong. His time at Swindon was full of falling out with players over the slightest perceived offenses. I think I heard of one player who he substituted, locked out of the changing room and wouldn't let him travel back on the team coach or even collect his clothes and belongings. When another player gave the outcast his stuff, he was put on the transfer list as well! As for Jol, we may have been close to the relegation zone, but we were never that close to actually getting relegated. Perhaps I just have a higher opinion of Jol than you, but I can't think of many managers I'd swap him for.

That last photo is a gem! Look at Brede! So Fulhamish. Looks like pre-season is taking it's toll on Duffers too.
