Thanks NZ Horn. Your lot look extremely dangerous and I think you'll stay up with ease. Was really worried today as you've been on a good run
Thanks for your kind comments, much appreciated! Like the rest of us, was a bit nervous before the game today, as I think you're a decent side and had just beaten West Ham. But somehow, we keep coming out with wins! Best of luck for the rest of the season, think you'll stay up comfortably tbh
Hows this for a fact: Vardy is the only player to score in nine consecutive games in the same Premier League season, as Van Nistelrooy's goals came between March and August 2003.
Indeed he did, whats more the linesman made a correct decision. Not something Vardy really needs to be doing. Great win as I thought Watford were very impressive.
... don't be daft Jack .. the lino had flagged a couple of dubious one against Vards before that and it was just a bit of frustration ... the officials get far worse abuse in many games believe me ... it is normally only when it gets extreme that it gets acted upon, either by the ref or the FA ...
Yes, true, but nobody usually gives the finger!? He should be a bit more careful now he is an England international...
... it's his 'edginess' that makes him the player that he is ... haven't really seen that for England yet ,,, but hopefully we will
On another subject, Mahrez, Vardy and the penalty. Does anyone think it was a stunt by Mahrez to get the crowd going or do people think he was genuinely pig headed enough to try and grab the headlines even though Vardy is the regular taker and Vardy won it?
... my view is that Mahrez is a very humble young man who merely follows instructions ... he is the penalty taker ... we won a penalty ... somebody probably then reminded him of the goal scoring record etc so he simply did the right thing ... he seems to have little ego for someone with his incredible talent ... makes me like the guy even more
Is he the penalty taker though? He took one against Sunderland first game but from Bournemouth onwards Vardy has taken them. I'd say Vardy is the taker which is why I think he was being big headed or it was put on for the crowd
Mahrez went off at half time against Bournemouth having been clattered early doors by Gradel and was on the bench against Norwich when Vardy scored from the spot ... he scored against Sunderland and Stoke from the spot, converting with consummate ease ...
Right ok, didn't realise that. So maybe he is still the official taker. I'd say with the ease Vardy has converted them and their records in the shootout at Hull, it should be Vardy but yeah you're right. I'm a fan of strikers taking pens tbh. Glad he came to that conclusion then
... Mahrez tends to place them in the corners with some style ... my only concern with Vards is that you know he is going to lash it ... had my heart in my mouth today tbf ... so pleased when the net bulged.
But Vardy scored his pen against the world beaters of Hull so he must be better haha! Tbf they both have great records at them so good to have the option
I always thought Paul Gallagher takes great penalties - turns his back to the keeper, takes a couple of steps when the ref blows his whistle turn around and smashes it. Here he is scoring one against Watford back in the day:
