So the losing team couldn't score (the aim of football) and manage to get themselves in the position where they rely on the ref giving a judgement their way? They deserve nothing whi h is what they would get! IMO
We battered Peterborough for 90 minutes and still lost. The best team doesn't always win, but if you lose, by definition you deserve nowt. Such is life.
Basically Hull beat a **** team and we lost to a **** team The Palace defeat I could take as they were a decent team. However today, if we can't beat (or least get a point) against teams like Watford then kiss automatic promotion (and a play off place) goodbye
Not if the penalty's undeserved, but let's say Team A has two-thirds of possession, 35 shots on goal, hits the woodwork 5 times and misses a (rightly awarded) penalty. Team B don't have a shot until the last minute of the game, but they score and win 1-0. Is that deserved? Of course it is. In what way is it not? People who disagree are usually big fans of citing 'bad luck', as if any such thing exists. 'Nearly' scoring isn't what the game is about. Football is a game of goals, and nothing but.
Absolutely, I agree. But when referees ignore penalty shouts and other things outside the team's control happen. That's when you have bad luck. We should have been awarded a penalty today. The fact that we were not was bad luck. Although obviously, with you being a Hull fan you will have to disagree with everything I say.
Everything we say, since it was I that originally used the word "deserve". We hear pundits say all the time "[add team name here] deserved something from that game but didn't get the rub of the green" or a comment of that ilk. Of course teams don't get results they deserve. But over the course of a season this shouldn't have a huge impact and you should finish where you deserve to finish. I actually think we're lucky to be fourth considering we've lost five games already, but that's because in the majority of matches, we've got the result we deserved - a win. Anyway, let's put this behind us. Tuesday will be a massive game for us, and Hull will have a big test too.
I think it's wrong to underestimate any team in this league - even the teams currently down near the bottom are well capable of putting in some very good performances. Given the fine lines that divide the teams it is inevitable that "luck" will come into play - we can all point to examples where we've been denied penalties or suffered from poor decisions but, if we're perfectly honest, we can also recognise occasions when we've benefited. It's the unpredictability that makes the Championship such a great league to watch and this is turning into one of the best seasons so far. Certainly lots of twists and turns to come for us all.
Ok I didn't mean it to come out quite like that. What i meant was more like - If we can't beat Watford with the peformance Watford had then it is a very poor show. Watford were poor yesterday - what does that make out performance
Possession 55%/45% Shots on goal 15/7 Shots on Target 8/3 Corners 8/3 Not sure if you watched the game MoultonFox but for long periods you were outplayed and passed out of the game. Your team failed to put any pressure on us and we capitalised by scoring two very good goals from open play. We defended solidly rarely looking under threat even in the last ten minutes or should I say seventeen minutes with the ridiculous amount of stoppage time. Andy D'Urso had a shocking game as usual, but for not punishing blatant diving and lack of discipline from your players. Yes your performance was poor. To be honest I was expecting us to get a thrashing, but give credit where its due you were outclassed today by a rare solid Watford performance and did not rise to the challenge.
Yes Watford did outplay us but they are not in the same street as Palace - who i think will get automatic promotion (only us and them in the top 4 leagues have scored in every game)
Good call on Palace, although I can't help but think Zaha will be snapped up in January, which may hinder them. That said, they're a very organised team which, Zaha aside, don't really rely on individuals. Can't look past Cardiff for automatic too, while Bolton I think are only going to get better. Play-offs at best for us I think, but we're still well capable of that.
Im hoping that if Palace are still around the autos in January, then all the talk of their players going will unsettle them enough to keep them out of the top 2. Cardiffs form will dip imo, especially if they lose some key players to injury, they will def be in the top 6 though, and i can see them winning the playoffs this year, which is why i want us in the top 2
All teams will have a bad run...Blackpool and Brighton were flying at the start of the season. Now cannot buy a win.. We'll probably be top 10 whilst you guys top 6. Palace might have a problem if Zaha goes but then they've probably get some youngster through their ranks to replace him.
Not so sure Palace will lose players now. Getting Hollowhead is a sign of intent and I'm sure he wouldn't have moved there if they were going to sell players off. I think they might be dark horses for a top six spot this season.
