Keep RVP and there wingers quiet, you keep Man U quiet. Lucas will have to do some man marking on RVP throughout the game if we are to win this. Reina Wisdom Skrtel Agger Johnson Lucas Henderson Gerrard Sterling Suarez Downing Take downing off if still level after sixty for sturridge. Really hope Allen doesn't start as I can see him struggling.
Lets hope United's bigger pitch is more suitable to Sterling's game. Raheem is an ex Man U fan on a mission. [h=1]Liverpool FC's Raheem Sterling - supporting United, false private life rumours and why my mum is the new Mourinho[/h] by Merseyside Sport, Liverpool Echo Jan 10 2013 Comments (2) inShare 2 Share on email Share on print RAHEEM STERLING has revealed that he used to support Manchester United. Liverpool’s 18-year-old winger will face the Red Devils at Old Trafford for the first time in his career when the two great rivals meet on Sunday. But he is now trying to forget about the fact that United were the team he chose to follow when he first moved over from his birthplace of Jamaica at the age of five. “I need to keep that quiet!” jokes Sterling, who is now a fully fledged Kopite. “But when you start playing for a team, you immediately start supporting them because you want to do your best for your team and you always want them to do well. “The older boys say that Manchester United is one of the hardest places to go. The pitch is massive and in the last 10 minutes they say it gets even bigger! “Hopefully we can go there, do our best and come out with a result even though it’s going to be very, very hard, a real test. “The atmosphere in the dressing room is brilliant. We’ve got Gerrard and (Jamie) Carragher, they’re real characters. They’re going to make us know what sort of game it is, what it’s like and get us ready for it. “They’ve been on us all week, telling how important it is. To have people around like that is brilliant. They’ve been around for so long. They love to have a laugh, good personalities and you need those characters in the dressing room. “I think we should be doing better. We’d like to be higher in the table. The manager has bright ideas, he’s a good manager. “We didn’t start too well, but we’re improving all the time and we’re going to kick on in 2013. It’s going to be our year. “The manager has got his plans, it’s really coming together now. It will be a big 2013 for us. Daniel Sturridge has come in, he’s a real player.” Read more: Liverpool Echo http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/live...e-new-mourinho-100252-32585880/#ixzz2Hcw3eFPt
---------------Reina Wisdom---Skrtel---Agger---Johnson ---------Gerrard---Lucas ------------Henderson ---Suarez------------Sterling ------------Sturridge
I think unless hernandez starts then RVP will be up top so it'll be skertl he'll be on. its not a heading contest there so skertl is a bit better equipped in that case.... the game will be won and lost i nthe possession stats and how our "wing" backs cope with utd. if our lads can pin utd back by playing high up and put valencia into a defensive mode we've a chance..... All in all i love to see everyone putting hendo in cos like i said many times going to old trafford with gerrard and shelvey would be a disaster, we've be over run.... it'll be interesting to see who starts.
We tend to defend deep when we play at OT,and almost bring them onto us sometimes, I really feel we have gotta push up this ga, we are probably quicker than them all over the park.I say we should have a HIGH LINE, an press there back 4 on the ball, and KEEP the ball, Im happy to go back if there are no options forwards.FIND THE SPACE, its a huge pitch, if we cant find space off the ball in this game we never will. The wide forwards must play NARROW , and look for space inbetween the lines. Tactically despite me believin BR will go with the Sunderland 11 with Sturridge on the bench, I think it may be more tactically astute to play Sturridge as 9 and Suarez at inside left.Reasons being we need the wing forwards to play NARROW this game, Suarez would do that where Downing will stick wide, and we need to offer a threat in behind Sturridge will give us that threat more as Suarez comes short a lot.We want there back 4 deep, Sturridge will force that to happen Which ever 3 of the 4 we play up top, we should murder them for pace, we should be looking to take advantage of that
I think this is right on the money for this match - no way do I want Downing on the pitch. Lucas and Henderson have worked every well together, putting in the shift and closing down that area for us. It allows Gerrard to move around more freely and exploit space better. Sturridge should be able to provide a more physical presence up top and I hope that, despite a lack of training time, he and Suarez can dovetail, with Sturridge threatening them with raw pace and Suarez benefitting from move space as a consequence. Sterling will be free to shift between either wing, getting support from Johnson and Wisdom. I am concerned somewhat, however, over the pace United will have out wide and the protective cover Sterling will be able to provide for Wisdom (I'm less concerned on the other side, assuming that Sturridge funnels back to a wide left position when out of possession - as well as Johnson's performances at LB this season, which have been defensively good?. Cutting the supply to RVP will be key, as he does look very sharp.
