Proud Fox seems a bit feisty with his opinions on your players lol. Maybe his ex is a Mackem!
Cattermole certainly gets stuck in but I dont have him for a thug.
Cambiasso is our defensive midfielder. Ever heard of him? :emoticon-0110-tongu Been absolute class for us this season.

I have but I he's been so bloody good attacking wise I wasn't sure weather you've been deploying him in a more attacking role. Catt's doesn't offer much in terms of creating chances goal scoring Cambiasso bosses Catts on attacking stats. I'll wack up a head to head on stats for a laugh later if you like. I will be a tasty match up in the middle of the park. I'm our boards stat man. :p

Although I agree Cattermole is all too keen on a nasty tackle (last Sunderland game I saw was against Stoke, which he got booked for taking someone out), so too is our own Jamie V - although he does seem to have calmed down a bit since rediscovering his form, funnily enough.

As a statman I always disclose that stats are only guide and should be used to help build an opinion and not form it entirely. I also give no personal input on what I think the stats represent so make of them what you will. Before/if I'm attacked please bare in mind these stats are compiled using stat engine on the website squawka which use Opta data, the most accurate stat company covering the premier league. Also, I've not shown Cambiasso any disrespect unlike the the poster who labeled Cattermole '****' who, and I quote said 'runs around kicking people, nothing else' <whistle>:p

Robbie was about as hard as Jimmy Sommerville ... he'd have **** himself if he'd ever come up against the likes of Ron Harris, Tommy Smith, Jimmy Case, Souness, Steve Kember, Ali Mauchlen etc

For defensive midfielders? OK. I've already acknowledged Cam is way better going forward, Catts just sits in front of the back four and doesn't venture much into the attacking third he isn't asked to deliver goals and isn't deployed in such a way.

    Cam 4 goals
    Catts 1 goal

Jack Rodwell has scored 3, and I'm not arguing for a second he's been better than Catts, Rodwell has been a ****e midfielder this season so not sure the point on goals scored in relation to the role of DM but there's the stats.<ok>

Now if we're talking irrelevant stats to position played, I wonder how many shots on target both team's centerbacks have had, that will certainly prove which is best? :emoticon-0136-giggl

Good evening to you lads, there's some decent television on so I'm off for a while. :)

Average pass length for both is circa 20 yards. Would have thought it would have been a fraction of that.

20 meters fella not yards. Cam must play lots of angled long passes into the flanks like Catts does. They are certainly long average passing averages.

Regarding those stats for Cambiasso, it's fair to say that it took him a while to find his feet in the Premier League, and he did give the ball away too much early on in his time with us. He has gone from strength to strength though and, in some of his latter games, he's completed most, if not all, of his passes, many of which have been over long distances with amazing accuracy. Cattermole is an established Premier League and hasn't had to adapt to a different style of play.

Cambiasso has also being playing with Matty James, who is also defensive-minded, and more of a ball winner and play breaker. In fact, it would be interesting to see how James' and Cambiasso's stats compare, as no Leicester fan in their right mind would say James is better than Cambiasso.

I would also add that some of those stats could also suggest that you may have spend more time defending that us, which, considering your low amount of wins, is obviously not a good thing.

Great points. Though I must point out Poyet had Catts changing his role from a DM to a holding role. Last season Catts would win the ball and pass it two feet for someone else. This season he was asked to do something with the ball for the first time in his career so was also was abit all over the shop with his passing, we had people saying he wasn't cut out to be anything more than a basic DM and his passing wasn't good enough but his improvement is out of this world. He also keeps on his feet now, something we were all convinced at one point he was incapable of. He's shrugged his thuggish style of play and is looking a proper mid. It's going to be tasty as they're both bang on form and cracking players. Looking forward to it. :)

Would you like me to set the comparison of Cam and matty james? Would you like me to keep Catts in there and add Larsson his midfield partner? I'll set it up how you want fella. <ok>

The closer we get the more my nerves are jangling.
Be interesting to see the set ups as I think both teams would take a point with both afraid of loosing. Massive ramifications in this one.

Sorry FD, I sit corrected. Yes he does play diagonal balls, but for every one of those he plays, he also passes7 or 8 over 2-5 yards (maybe metres). Astounding average pass length and accuracy for both. If Matty James stats shows that he is similar average pass length then the stats are bollocks, so would be interesting to see.

Matty James is lower fella, 18.5 m. You have to remember though, if anyone takes corners or deep free kicks it will add to the av pass length. even clearances, matty James has made 45 clearance and managed to keep his Pass accuracy at 82%, pretty impressive, means a lot of his clearances are finding their man.
See this is why I put a disclosure when I present. It's all accurate, but things effect each other which is why it should be a guidance and not the basis of an opinion. Nowt's better than watching with your own eyes, if you read the game well the stats often back your opinion but not always despite what you saw, you know what I mean
? I love stats, but I can't let them seduce me.

Crosses, corners and fee kicks may explain it - thought they would be registered as separate stats by Optima.
