Quite right too, we have bigger fish to fry than the bloody league cup. Premier League is our bread and butter now and so important.
We should have played our strongest team. This competition was the only realistic chance we had to win something and get a place in Europe. This nonsense about resting players is pathetic - we've only played 2 games
... has always been my philosophy too Weller ... but I don't think we could risk Drinky, James (if even nearly ready) or Hammond in this one as we might then only have Andy King as a fit central midfield option for the Arsenal game (ignoring potential acquisitions for now) ... in hindsight might have been worth playing only one of the young midfielders alongside Andy King .... that team should then have been more than capable of beating the Shrews ... but hindsight is a wonderful thing ...
I think that the club can learn from last nights game that opening one stand does not lead to a positive atmosphere. At least open L1 and the family stand if you want to only open up certain sides of the ground. Shrewsbury fans were very much up for last night. In fact, their roar when they scored made me jump they were that loud and we were that quiet and I was sat on the opposite corner to them. Unfortunately, last night showed the lack of midfielders we've got. Past Deano, Drinky, James and King we have nobody.
I'm happy we have the kids a runout. We don't have the biggest squad as it is, the last thing we needed was a long-term injury to Kasper/Morgan/Mahrez etc for a Capital One Cup game...
There seems to be a lot of players picking up injuries at the moment, not just for us. If we dont give the kids a chance, then some people moan that we are not giving the academy lads a chance. Personally, I think the team selection was about right, and was surprised that we risked bringing King on - maybe Nige knew that McArthur and Cambiasso would be available for Sunday
With our injuries we didn't really have a choice with the "unknown midfielders" (and Pearson Jr. deserved a run-out anyway because he showed promise in pre-season).
The usual love-in for Manure and MK Donks by the press, they must have creamed themselves when they found out they were playing each other.
Latest score - Burton Albion 1-0 DQPR What was that, Grifter? EDIT: always good to get the score right...
Well this was my score prediction pregame, so no great surprise Burton are two positions higher than Shrewsbury, & we were away from home
Oh dear, he's trying to make it not sound as bad as your lots result... it was still a ****ing League Two side.
Who doesn't exist and certainly didn't start. I've actually heard of and seen more of you're starting line-up before than ours!
