You can't appeal yellow crds in the Prem, and I doubt you can appeal them in the EL either.

It was a scandalous decision, but I blame the ref not the assistant, the ref had a clear view and it's his decision to give the yellow. I think the criticisms of the assistant are incorrect and well OTT.

  2. Harry has to be applauded for being brave and doing what he did with the team tonight. We criticised him last season for not giving the young guns a chance, and now some appear to be criticising him (albeit indirectly) for having done so.

So what if they didn't win? How are they going to learn about winning unless they are given the scope to lose?

I thought it was a very mature performance tonight, and many of them have demonstrated that they have the potential to do very for us, in the years to come.

I, for one, am looking forward to seeing these young lads having another chance to impress.

Having said that, I think this was an easy game for Harry to take a chance with, as he's got to believe that he could have progressed out this group, even if we had lost tonight. The point away from home will have been a real bonus for him <ok>

Not sure what you mean about Kazan not being an issue, topping the group gets you seeded for next phase.

  4. I've got to say, that I agree with notso about Pav. He's been given chance after chance, and apart from a few stuttering cameos, he simply has failed to step up to the required standard. He's far too inconsistent for what we need and deserve. I am afraid that he will join the swelling ranks of the Spurs strikers who never lived up to their reputations.

Cudicini was brilliant, and the other three were excellent. To be fair, Pav did have a couple of excellent moments. But he looked uninterested overall, which is surely a sign that it's time for a player and a team to go their separate ways. I still have hopes for Gio, but he does have to do a lot better than he did last night. I'd like to see him play the next couple of Europa league games to figure out what should happen with him. It wasn't that he lacks talent, or wasn't trying, it looked more like he was a poor fit with the rest of the team. And the rolling around on the ground made the fit even poorer.

There's none when you draw a group like Man Utd's in the CL, either.
    Virtually every bloody year, too.

Who the **** are SC Otelul Galati?

Yes, it does give them the right to be there.
It does make your group a load of ****e, though.

If ITV shows one more game from it, as opposed to City's extremely open looking group, then they should just rename themselves MUTV and be done with it.

    It's a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Man Utd are on all the time, so they have more supporters, so they're on all the time.

They should have to spread it around, like they're supposed to in the Premier League.

ITV might not be able to make that claim, but Sky certainly have a lot to do with your modern popularity.
Funny that, as they owned shares in you...

I think the EL is an excellent competition, and I'm delighted we're in it. Of course I would prefer CL, but I just love the EL too.

So far we've had tremendous nights at Hearts and PAOK, I expect Shamrock to be the same, don't know what to expect from Rubin Kazan. You simply don't get these type of marveloous nights in the domestic cups, by definition because they are domestic.

To me the EL has more prestige and excitement than either domestic cup and I would rather win it than them.

Naturally the Prem and CL stand alone as the top two trophies, but the Prem is a no hoper for us and any other team outside the Big 4 plus City. The CL is pretty much a pipe dream too for us.

Realistically, for us, the EL is as good as it gets when it comes to winning trophies, and I've been delighted with our progress so far.

We are now in a strong position to qualify, and can add VDV and a couple of others to our squad for the knock out stage, should we reach it.
