Next is the FA Cup away to Newport. Chance to rest some player and give other the opportunity to prove a point and stake a claim. Daniel Amartey is the only injuries. So here is what I would go with

Ward

Simpson
Evans
Soyuncu
Fuchs

Ghezzal
Choudhury
Iborra
Gray

Okazaki
Iheanacho

Subs- Jakupovic, Johnson, Benalouane, King, James, Maddison, Diabate,

According to Rob Tanner though Iborra could have left before the weekend
Silva is still here and might make an appearance.

Hopefully Ndidi is not even on the bench - kid desperately needs a rest.

Assuming that Iborra and Silva aren’t available...

Ward

Simpson Soyuncu Evans Fuchs

King James (if fit)/Choudhury

Ghezzal Okasaki Diabate

Ihenacho

subs: schmeichel, Maguire, Leshabala, N’didi, Albrigton, Vardy, Pereria

James has an achilles injury and had surgery in September for another issue - you might have to accept that the lad might never be fit again...

I wouldnt be against giving Silva 1 final chance in this game. It will be scrappy but he should be able to show his class and impose himself on the game

Whenever he has played he just takes the easy pass. I want to see some ambition in his play. Thats why Drinky was so successful here. He tried passes that put us in dangerous positions when they came off

Yes it will go wrong alot but more then worth it when they pay off

If he isn’t set on going, I’d agree but I get the impression that he is set on leaving

I thought he was back in training?
Maybe - the only thing I can find is this brief mention here https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/.../latest-vicente-iborras-adrien-silvas-2387393

City weren’t looking to let Iborra go this January but the emergence of Hamza Choudhury and the return from injury of Matty James has left a door open for Iborra to return to Spain and he recently admitted in a radio interview in Spain that it was a possibility.

Yessssss. Get ready for him and N’didi to have the sturdiest midfield in the league.
James has been injured now for not too far off 4 years. As soon as he gets over an injury he breaks down again

Since he got the initial injury he has made 14 appearances for us in nearly 4 years. I really cant get my head around why Puel favours him to King

Achilles injury is probably the worst you can get. There is very little you can have done to make it better. Stephen Clemence had to retire as he could get over his achilles injury

I know - things don’t look good but plenty more have recovered from it than not. Would be a real shame if he doesn’t make it back after all these years of recovery

I dont think he will ever recover and if he does wont be upto Premier League level

He probably will need looking after like how Man City do with Kompany

James is pictured in the first team training pics released today .... as is Admiral Muskwe <ok>

Iborra is in Spain for "family reasons" but Puel concedes he migh agree a move whilst over there ... Villareal are now favourites to sign him... <cheers>

Vicente Iborra is in Spain for personal reasons not for transfer talks as it stands but he could stay there to complete a move

Puel has said Matty James is in the squad

Excellent news. He’ll boss the show...
If he does play then I just hope he gets through the game without further injury.

I can't see him bossing the show and to be honest I've never rated him that highly. I always thought he was the poor relation when he came with Drinkwater, and didn't understand why he was chosen alongside Cambiasso for much of that season. But you have to admire his tenacity if he does make a successful comeback, but I think he should probably be looking at playing more regularly at a lower level.

I’d like to think we’ll play a strong team tomorrow. We’ve no concerns with the league so it should be a chance to have a good go at the FA Cup. Try and incorporate a couple of fringe players, but make sure we give ourselves the best chance of winning. We’ve never won it so it would be nice to tick all the domestic trophies off, apart from league 2!
