Nuge is a doubt for the game with a sore ankle ... have to say that comes as something of a relief ... bemused by the sustitution of Ulloa for Nuge on Saturday, particularly when also bringing o a 'crosser' like Albrighton ....
City: Schmeichel, De Laet, Morgan (c), Wasilewski, Konchesky, Schlupp, Cambiasso, James, Mahrez, Vardy, Ulloa. Subs: Hamer, Drinkwater, King, Albrighton, Moore, Knockaert, Wood
so the same team again.....a brave move from Pearson. win and he will win plaudits for showing faith and not backing down......lose and he will face huge critisism for not trying something different. We shall see.
Because it was Ulloa who hit it, the fact that it came back off the post and went in of Mignolets arse is immaterial.
Shouldn't have been a red. Hardly pacy Ricky Lambert was out wide and Wasilewski was covering. Bad refereeing decisions costing us here.
Stringer has just stated that Liverpool are to good, Think it his more like we are terrible, our defence costs us every game Kasper needs a rest
Liverpool are not very good, they may have won but they hardly looked very convincing with their 12 men against the bottom team's 10. I'm not bitter or anything...
Absolutely, Liverpool didn't "win" that game, we "lost" it. It just seems that we're going through the same thing that we went through season before last. Hopefully this is our poor run of the season which every team goes through, just hope we don' t get too far away from 17th before our luck turns. We certainly didn't deserve to lose that 3-1.
Some positives in the performance - Cambiasso and James certainly developing as a pairing - James was really good tonight Leo and Vardy combined well and Leo carved a goal out of nothing - but a shame that he had to wait to the dying minuted for any decent cross - showed how dangerous he is in the air Jeff Schlupp and Riyad Mahrez both played well The 'if's' If only Cambiasso had put away the early gift from Mignolet If only Vardy hadn't got in the way of what looked like a goal bound shot from Cambiasso Now for the real concerns: Our 'best' / most consistent players from last season have so far come up short Danny D has looked a shadow of himself Big Wes - Captain Fantastic from last season has morphed into Major Catastrophe - poor defensive decisions have directly led to goals against West Brom, the Dramas and most calamitously last night culminating in his sending off Kasper - plainly at fault for the third goal - should perhaps have been sent off for the challenge on Gerrard which seemed a penalty (can only think that Gerrard attempting to hurdle before contact saved Kasper's danish - so to speak) Konch - criminal ball watching and losing Lallana for their equaliser - where else could Lambert have knocked it down to? Wes's sending off might spare NP one difficult decision for the Villa game - I assume that he is immediately suspended - if Upson is fit I'd consider pairing him with Liam for the Villa game I hope he takes the other one and gives Hamer an opportunity We are still a young team on the whole with a lot of development to do - was a bit unfortunate last nigh that most chances appeared to fall to Wasyl!! A long way to go but we need to start taking points off those teams around us - strating with something against Villa Whilst the current run worries me I won't be getting on NPs back as long as we keep playing with ambition ..
A good post there Fosse Pretty much sums up my thoughts/concerns too. We looked nervous on the ball last night, especially when Liverpool started to press. Wonder if it's a confidence thing. Cambiasso is absolute class. Just a shame he won't be able to play 90 minutes every week... Perhaps he needs to persuade his old Inter mates to come along, Zanetti and Sneijder would do As you say, it's all about beating the teams around us, and that has to start this weekend against Villa!
