And as for Mahrez he was a class above the championship from day 1. He struggled for a few months in the prem like Vardy and everyone else but he was superb for us from day 1
Like I said, I rated Knockheart higher due to Mahrez losing the ball trying to run through oppenents so many times. Then he learnt to knock the ball past them and all was forgiven.
I too never saw any more in Mahrez when he first joined than Knockaert. It goes to show what happens when you give players tome. A lot of our fans wanted Vardy shipping out to West Brom after the great escape for £5mill! On Gray, I think he is really hard working and often does good work tracking back. He does need to add more goals and assists to his stats but tbf as a team we seem a bit blunt recently. Still think we need something else in the middle of the park but if we keep that settled team from Saturday I think we’ll see Gray come good
Again it was completely the opposite for me - Mahrez tried to many tricks and lost the ball way too much but because we walked the division, Pearson stick with him and gave him chances. Fortunately he learnt discipline - Knockhert wasn't suited to the 532 during the great escape add he was a traditionally winger who is one of the few former players I wouldn't mind returning...
Lets hope today is one of Grays good days. He has the faith of his manager at the moment and that of most of the fans. As has been noted he just needs to move on from potentially being a very good player to showing it. He now has three seasons with us plus his time at Birmingham so is getting to the experienced level and it would be great to see a bit more end product. Ghezzal definitely out so another opportunity for him to stamp his mark on what will be another strange day for the club.
Schmeichel, Simpson, Morgan, Soyuncu, Chilwell, Albrighton, Ndidi, Mendy, Diabate, Maddison, Iheanacho Subs- Ward, Fuchs, Knight, Ricardo, Iborra, Gray, Okazaki
I know he gets alot of stick. Sometime justified but alot unfairly but Wes Morgan does incredibly well to be able to play week in and week out. Very rarely misses a game through injury or being “tired”
Something happened to Evans? Will be interesting to see how Soyuncu plays on the left side of central defence - was reported poor there in the reserves. Also am surprised that Gray isn't starting - there is not a lot of speed up front.
Ive given up trying to work Puel out. Yes Vardy and Evans are injured so change them but other then that. Same again lads. Diabate to come from nowhere to starting is strange
Fulham had a free kick on the edge and you could clearly hear Kasper shouting “Wes, Wes! Wake the **** up”
