Captain - you're my hero. Bandit, I too have a thing for Everton and Moyes. Maybe it's just me, but Everton have always had a certain rugged, savage style about them. They're the team you hate to play ... hustle and guts personified by people like Darren Cahill, Tony Hibbert, Alan Stubbs and Duncan Ferguson. Baines is probably the best left back in football.
I think he's England's best left back, but in the world? That title goes to Mr. Phillip Lahm of Bayern/Germany. Oh and don't even get me started on Duncan Ferguson, what a monster.
Let's be clear, Charlton were sinking in the last 2 years of Curbishley's reign. He was smart enough to see that and to see that with the money available he was only prolonging the inevitable. He was wise to get out when he did. However, while he did a great job at Charlton, they would have been favourites to go down that year even if he stayed. Just wanted to say that. I'm glad we managed to avoid appointing him, even if Hughes was something of a rough experience!
You've kinda reiterated my point here, I think everyone knew they would struggle when he left, which they did. But while they were there I don't think they ever finished under 15th. I'm also glad we didn't appoint him, he isn't really in the same league as Moyes, who appears to want to at least try and aim for top six, whereas Curbs was always happy to just survive.
He's right footed, but I think he alternates between right and left. Even so, I think he's the best full back in the world. If I'm unable to call him a left back.
I understand Jol has been poorly this week and may not have travelled with the team - presumably Billy Mac will look after the day to day things but the boss will make the team selection. Might make substitution decisions interesting though. Looking forward to Demps breaking another record and getting his 50th premiership goal for us today. COYW
I'm not feeling hugely confident about this one today- Everton are quite similar to us. I reckon 2-1 Everton although hopefully I'm wrong.
Absolutely no way Craving, Cashley has been woeful for some time and is just fortunate that Bosingwa and Luiz seem to steal the spotlight from him when making mistakes. I would honestly put Evra above him (even though I can't stand him)
I think Cashley was superb for longer than he's been poor. It's only really this season he's been below-par. Evra has been solid though.
Starting XI: Schwarzer, Hughes, Senderos, Hangeland (c), Riise, Duff, Dembele, Diarra, Frei, Dempsey, Pogrebnyak . Subs: Stockdale (gk), Baird, Sa, Kasami, Murphy, Etuhu, Kacaniklic Good to see Frei playing. Murphy on bench - saved for Anfield? Opportunity for Diarra to prove himself (to me at least). C O Y W
Marcelo for best left back? Well for best attacking left back. Defensive one goes to Domenico Criscito I think he has been amazing for zenit and Italy.
Think they got that wrong. Jol wont be in the dugout unfortunately. Recovering from illness at home apparently.
Frei and Duff are both playing according to BBC? Midfield looking like Duff, Frei, Dembele, Diarra and Dempsey.
