Man U 2 - 0 Newcastle. Cleverley makes up for the wide shot earlier.

Goons get a 2nd via an Oxo-cube deflected shot.

Carlisle making all three subs, it seems. Guess they have to do something dramatic.

Man U 2 - 1 Newcastle. Sloppy defending from a cross. Cisse had an easy header.

We're bringing on Walker. Trying to rest Vertonghen, possibly?

Arshavin puts the Goons 3-0 ahead. Game over, unsurprisingly.

Mason has a decent header pushed behind, from a Smith cross.
Walker does replace the Belgian and goes to left-back.

Carroll being readied. Mason or Sigurdsson to come off?

Sounds like Mason's doing ok when he gets the ball high up the pitch, SC.
Had the a couple of chances saved, one of which was a very good save from a header, according to RL.
Going off for Carroll, now. Manager and his assistant gave him a warm reception as he went off.

If it were me I would have said, hey Hugo, feel like playing at Carlisle? No worries if you do or if you don't. The situation is consistent with that.

QPR take the lead against Reading, again. Cisse.
Might not be a great time for West Ham to face them on the weekend... <whistle>

    Obika's coming on! <laugh>
    Where's Croydon?

Nearly scores with his first touch! <laugh>
Keeper boots it against him, but it loops back to him and he saves himself some real embarrassment.

The only time a player should be given the option to play or not, is if the player has an injury which makes him 50/50 and only the player knows if he is capable of playing. Even then the manager must make the final decision.

Lloris is not injured, so the decision is with AVB. There is no "do you want to play or do you not" situation. Good grief, we pay AVB a couple of million a year to make his own decisions, not for the player to make it for him !!

This is turning out nicely. I would have liked to rest everyone, but 2/3 starters who did start got on the scoresheet for the first time, which has to help their confidence a bit. I'm one of the biggest Beni fans on the board, but I'm seriously thinking about Vertonghen at left back on a long term basis. He just looks fantastic, and it opens the way for Caulker, who I think deserves to start. The past three matches from set pieces we've had two goals from Caulker (neither of which he got credit for) and one from Vertonghen. The days of us being crap from set pieces may have eased a bit.
