This is frustrating. The two recent wins were where we played like we did a couple of seasons ago playing on the break. Our performances against so called lesser clubs are awful. Palace cant win without Zaha, they can against us. Cardiff cant win away, they can against us. I love that we have all these young players who have bags of talent but we just don't have an end product.. We never really looked like scoring today with maybe one decent shot from Peirera. Gray just has no end product, Okazaki bless him just runs around without ever threatening. If Vardy is fit then he must stay on for that one chance that may come, be it a penalty or from open play. On the bright side at least Spurs showed we aren't the only ones who can blow it.
We can’t play on the break in games like that though at home to Cardiff. We are developing into a side that is more capable on the ball but Puel hasn’t had enough time (transfer windows) to do this yet. We do need to be able to break these sides down better and I felt we did have chances today but a lot of it imo seems to be individual errors and not being clinical. Once the manager sends the players out I’m not sure what he can do about this one thing with Puel though is his signings have been good. Some managers I’d be thinking **** don’t give him January but I reckon he’ll try and strengthen us further with the right players. He has highlighted weaknesses well far. As for Vardy, he clearly isn’t fit. He’s also getting older. We need more capable competition.
Puel sold all our strikers and didnt replace them so yes its his fault we heavily rely on Vardy. Puel isnt in complete control of transfer but ones that was his signings are Ricardo and Ghezzal Ricardo looks class and Ghezzal is beyond useless. And dont give me he hasnt had time to get a team together capable of beating Cardiff at home. We all knew before the game that we had to be more attacking then a midfield of Mendy and Ndidi. Iborra had to start And then we need a goal so takes a striker off who just happens to be our best striker by far. Most people would have brought Iheanacho on to play WITH Vardy. Not replace him. Then he takes Albrighton off who is miles better then Gray who was having a complete mare Bottom line is he got the starting line up wrong, he got the tactics wrong and he got the subs badly wrong
I’m surprised you’re even willing to give him any credit for Ricardo! If the worst transfer business is Ghezzal who is not ‘beyond useless’ but a very average squad player to plug the gap until Barnes is ready I don’t think he’s done badly. Defence improved and set for the future. Have you ever heard of build from the back? Or do you expect the complete shambles of a squad we had to be fixed from back to front in one summer? Of course we should beat Cardiff at home. No one has said otherwise. However it’s called football, better teams than us have lost at home to worse teams that Cardiff. It’s what makes the sport great. It’ll happen in the future and results like this have happened under any manager we’ve had! What the bottom line actually is, is we are 8th in the league, rebuilding the squad, bringing young players though and have just beaten two of the best teams in the country. Have you also heard of after the Lord Mayors show? Fact is, if we got rid of Puel now we’d rightly be a laughing stock, our reputation would be shot as it was post Ranieri and our owners would have a reputation of foreign trigger happy etc etc. No decent managers worth their salt would be remotely interested!!
Ive said many times there is alot about Puel I like he just makes miles too many mistakes I think he would make a top director of football. Giving a manager instructions and letting someone much more suited to management pick the team, tactics and subs He wants to give youth a chance which is what I along with 99% of fans want to see. But he makes too many mistakes His interview yesterday he was asked why Choudhury didnt play. His response is Choudhury cant break the lines and wanted more flexibility in midfield. Ok no problem but why play Mendy and Ndidi together? Mendy, Ndidi and Choudhury all have different qualities but do the same thing. Only different midfielders we have are Iborra and Silva. We all knew and said he had to change the midfield but he didnt see it I dont mind managers making mistakes but Puel makes the same ones time after time and doesnt ever learn from them
I do agree with all that as I can see his flaws. I guess I’m just more willing to give him more time and just don’t think we could bring anyone in that is any better. Given what he’s doing for the club as a whole being good and the club being in the strongest position for a while, I just dont think it’s a disaster to give him the season. I hope he will strengthen the squad further next month and continue to blood the youth players. Do I think he’s the man long term? No not really. Do I think he’s ok right now to get the rebuild/transition going? Yes I do. There’s no point getting rid mid season as the only real options are merry go round past it managers. Next manager needs to continue all the good work Puel does do but hopefully does show more ambition and tactical awareness on the pitch. That appointment is more likely to be made at the end of the season. As I said, no decent manager is likely to come if we got rid now. Despite things not being great on the pitch, don’t underestimate the good work he’s done off it

Annoying yet predictable result, so many fans called the radio after the Man City game saying that we would find Cardiff more difficult, they were proved right. Honestly would have preferred it if we had beaten Palace and Cardiff and lost to Chelsea and Man City, all we are doing is helping teams catch us up.
