I think Konch is a very very good LB. Didnt take long for the new scapegoat to come through. SSL has always been the scapegoat for me since 'that' bristol game.
Must start with Danns (our best midfielder), Beckford (our best goalscorer) and Knockeart (our best winger).
Ed you've labelled Konch as "the new scapegoat" in several posts now as if he is hard done by - You cannot argue that he hasn't performed to last seasons standards yet and that he wasn't to blame for at least the first goal yesterday
didnt see the game as i went away for the weekend, and i do think he is hard done by. Its all personal oppinion though. And SSL makes such an easy scapegoat...
I don't think Konch played that bad, but I really don't like his lack of discipline. Seemed to me (and I haven't seen any replays yet, so I may be wrong) that young Moore made mistakes during both goals. Playing a youngster in the first team, we have to accept that mistakes will be made. I was worried about the defensive cover pre-season, I've seen nothing to assure me yet. But I don't really want to point the finger too much as I feel we played brilliant overall. The first half we matched them and only let ourselves down with two silly mistakes. Second half we were by far the better team and believed we fully deserved at least a point. We're not getting the luck at the moment, but we certainly aren't helping ourselves with the silly defensive mistakes. I feel we're very close to being a top side.
Very sensible post Lesta Gangsta. However, I'm not sure I abide by all this 'we're not getting the luck' thing. Many teams will get this throughout the season, but the best ones just keep on creating chances to such an extent that luck becomes irrelevant. We can complain about goals which were disallowed and penalties denied but the fact is they should be on top of the goals and chances we've created. It sounds a cliché but you do make your own luck.
“@JasonBourne1986: Nigel Pearson has told us that Neil Danns will be in the squad tomorrow. #LCFC”
ed - ih has nothing to do with 'scapegoats' - 'Konch' is distinctly average IMHO - not completey crap but certianly not 'very very good' and if you watch the replays of Wolves goals you will see him ball watching for both ... the first is particularly shocking as he completely loses Blake who is not the most agile of strikers ...
^ i hope he will though. I really really really really really really really really really hope Danns takes his chance!!
Moore did make a wayward pass that then led to a free kick for one of the goals ... but we should still have been able to defend that .. other than that he was pretty solid again and is certainly growing in stature - but Konchesky completely loses Blake for the first goal and is caught ball watching for the second - Stearman is six yards out on his own at the far post again when the ball falls very nicely to him ...
Konchesky was at fault for the 1st. And De Laet for the 2nd. Apart from them we was reasonable solid at the back Big Wes handled everything. I think Ledge will be back in tommorow with Liam Moore probably missing out But what ever happens Moore has done superbly. He got an unexpected chance and he stepped up and showed alot of maturity and performed well. At times his inexperience has shown but it is a great start to his career
I thought Konchesky was on the far post for the second goal but I am happy to be corrected if that was De Laet ... Liam Moore is incredibly good for a 19 year old ...
It was de Laet who lost Stearman. Moore and Konch at fault for the first gift we gave them. Only big Wes didnt make a disastrous mistake, but even he got caught on the ball and gave them a chance. Wasnt a defensive display to be proud of. The sooner Whitbread gets some match time (maybe for U21s) the better.
Wes made 1 mistake, I think it was on Doyle then he recovered with a great last minute tackle just as he was about to shoot
Moore made 1 mistake, as did de Laet and Konch. It was a brilliant block by big Wes. It was still a shabby defensive display and not good enough. Also, thought Drinkwater had his worst game for us. He gave the ball away so many time that James had to play really deep.
