Good win and 3 points, but Nugent we can't keep missing chances like today, we should have been at least 3 nil up at half time.
Defensively looking very good, playing as a unit. Midfield will be interesting next week with at least two more changes in there if Hammond doesn't recover. Great win but these 1-0 score lines do fray the nerves somewhat.
His days might be numbered if the rumours about us looking for another striker are true. Kramaric should see the end of Chris Wood at least in the short term and any other striker will probably see the end of Nugent
Disagree - since coming back into the team he has been brilliant. Works his socks off and has made the team a much better unit
Having just watched it again on MOTD have to agree although he might have got away with a yellow because he does at least get the ball in the process ... the interesting thing is that Akore completely misses the ball and actually gets Matty James trailing leg
Working socks off won't keep us up ... goals will ... I'm with Proud on that ... Nuge might have a role still but we can't afford his profligacy as a front line striker ... just imagine us winning goals by 2 or 3 ... Kamaric might just enable us to do that ... a very good performance but having missed as many chances as we did, thank God Villa couldn't score in a brothel right now ...
Fantastic win, one we really needed. Nice to see my criticism of Konchesky pay off Agree with all the comments, Villa looked dire, haven't scored in a long time now. It was a must-win game, and we won it. But now here comes another must-win against Stoke...
Just watching match of the day and I picked up on a line of the commentry in the Sunderlad v Liverpool match. It said 'about time Liverpool got a decision from the ref'. Oh poor Liverpool, they never get te decisions do they, they were completely ripped off by the ref against us on New Year's Day...
I don't see how Nugent can have a future here next season if we stay up. IMO he will never be anything more then a top championship striker
Keep Vardy & sell Nugent then Proud ? He´ll be off to Q.P.R to replace Austin when he goes to a bigger club & they go down to the champ´ship & at the same time make room for the new FOR, PERFECT.
If we stay up then neither Vardy or Nugent will have major roles next season. We would need to sign a new striker to compete with Ulloa and Kramaric Vardy would still have a role as an impact sub but it's a case of if he is happy to do that.
Considering the number of players we had unavailable, that was a pretty good result. With Cambiasso, Drinkwater, and our new Croatian star in for next week, hopefully, we should have a team able to beat Stoke, who are probably better than Villa.
According to Nigel Pearson tomorrow is D Day for Andrej Kramaric It's important we don't expect the world from him. He might be as good as Wilfried Bony is or Ricky Van Wolfswinkel
We don't need a striker in forms missing easy chances. Yes he scored a cracker at Liverpool and nearly scored another yesterday but truth is Nugent is as we all feared just nothing more then a very good championship striker. There is still question marks over Vardy but I can't see Nugent scoring enough goals to be considered a Premier League class striker. If Nugent or Vardy had a few more goals then we might not be buying a striker for 10M
Vardy only gets the break from criticism coz of his pace and working his socks off. Fans will always like that. But Nugent brings a lot to the side too in different ways. 5 mill for Vardy? A no brainer. take it and run
And, whilst i agree with you on the whole, i think that his form at the moment is very good. Since he has come back into the side i feel we have a better balance. Yes, he isnt our main man, but he is playing well at the moment and his link play is good. I would certainly play him in the next game. If its not broken, why fix it?
Because he doesn't look like scoring in a month of Sunday's. Great goal against Liverpool and you can't take that away from him but to miss them 2 chances yesterday was poor and to not even hit the target is criminal. At the end of the day we are in a position where we need points and not good performances. Ulloa has scored most of his chances this season and Kramaric's record speaks for itself. We haven't signed a 10M striker to sit on the bench and he has signed to sit on the bench either
If we are all really honest we must admit that none of our strikers are up to it in the premier league. Maybe Ulloa could be one for the bench. That's why we are where we are in the league. If you don't score goals you don't win matches. Simples.
