That bolded term annoys the hell out of me - I agree "a few years back" (I've been watching since 1981) it wouldn't have made a difference - but Cattermole would be lucky to get 3 yellows a season back in the 80's for stuff he's done in the past. Different game now and that challenge by Drinkwater any time in the last 20 years would've been a red card. Vardy kicked Monreal to win your penalty - which is exactly what you complain about Arsenal doing n your post - Monreal had stopped and Vardy had gone past him - his leg didn;t need to go anywhere near Monreal. The other one where the contact was initiated by Monreal on Mahrez - Mahrez could easily have stayed on his feet and probably got the ball - but he made a meal of it (I think it was a penalty but Mahrez shouldn't have gone down). You state it as if none of your players do it - every team has players that do it - we do, you do, Swansea, Southampton, Watford etc. etc. not just the big clubs. Simpson could've easily been booked for his first foul in the first half - the second one was probably an accumulation. Every shirt tug to stop a player getting away is a standard yellow card at every level (my 11 year old son was booked at the weekend for it!). It was silly to do it on a yellow card and gives the referee a decision to make - I reckon he'd have had 2 yellows for those three incidents in most games - just an opinion and nothing against the foxes - want you guys to win the league TBH.
To watch a mega money team like Arsenal and her fans lower themselves to ""Acting " for favour from officials while a League leading small market team act and play with such dignity was a beautiful thing
But that doesn't make it "not a red card" - I don't like play acting at all (and said the same to my Dad about Ramsey at the time of the incident) - I'm a Sunderland fan by the way (not sure if you were aware)
Yes Drinky probably should have had a red but come on, ffs let's not have a Mackem on here talking about dirty players, Cattermole does that week in week out..... Get real man !
5 yellows this season - no reds this or last season - mainly because he has calmed down and matured fella - different player to the one you're alluding to. Don't cast aspersions on someone you haven't seen play for 3 years and only ever used to read about when he had disciplinary problems! Cattermole has been a very dirty player in his time and I'm certainly not having a go at Leicester - just the lot of you that think the ref was so bad when one of your players almost broke someones leg and didn't even get a foul given against him!
... because Coqauvin was already on a yellow by then if I recall rightly ... and could you imagine the implosion there would have been if Martin TW Atkinson had actually applied the letter of the law on 'raised hands' at that time?
... both were rather soft yellows in the context of the game ... and Giroud is generally the first to have an opponent's shirt in his hand at any challenge ... refs need to get wise to him backing into opponents and doing that consistently ... Simpson was naiive and shouldn't have done the second after the first ... ... but arsenal are hardly angels ... someone scythed down Okazaki in the build up for the pen and Atkinson played the advantage ... but just because it resulted in a goal for us shouldn't have meant that the earlier offence got ignored ... which it did ... ... Coquelin should have gone without question ... how many straight reads have we seen given for 'raised hands' ? ... suspect Atkinson will claim that he didn't see it ... otherwise no excuse whatsoever ...
14 yellows last season perhaps a few of them should have been red though no doubt your gonna say the opposite ? 14 though , just one short of the all time record !
Well speaking as another Sunderland fan I was gutted you got beat yesterday. Letter of the law I could understand the red card but I would doubt any of the classic big 4 clubs would of got the same punishment. I hope you guys finish off the fairy tail and win the league, good luck!!! PS loved it after the penalty when Vardy went up the guy who was trying to put him off
... fair play then, I take back the criticism ... but the Coquelin one ... far more a yellow than anything Simpson did ... if a leicester player had done anything that stupid I'd have been fuming at him ..
After the overall unwarranted red card , and ultimiately losing the game , I thought the Foxes played some of their greatest football against Arsenal protecting a deserved 1-0 lead on the penalty toward Vardy . You guys keep playing like you did before and after the red card , and no one will stop you .
I know he had a leg badly broken in the past but this was worse than shameful, down right cheating and as unprofessional as you can get.
If Simpson's 2 yellow cards are the foundation for refs to call yellow cards , most games in the Premier would finish with most teams having a single digit amount of players coming off the pitch at the final whistle . I wouldn't put to much weight on people coming on here from the peanut gallery telling you everything was fair and square from this game as they either didn't watch the whole game or they don't know they're arse from a hole in the ground . Leicester reeked of class this entire game , Arsenal just plain reeked .Leicester put on one of the most complete team performances of the season during this loss ... Before and after the sending off .Playing Arsenal when they have 11 players is hard enough , playing them when they have 12 is nearly impossible .....especially Leicester playing half the game with 10 .
