Depends on the opposition Ensil, but with our current strikers I'd have to agree that 4-4-2 is often the way to go.

How do you include all of our best players in that formation, though?
Bale at left-back, Modric on the left with van der Vaart in the middle is one way, but that would mean dropping Assou-Ekotto, who's been largely excellent today.

I said our strikers won't have such a bad season again and this makes me a little more hopeful. But falling behind at home and coming back was a major feature last season and it looks like we are just a roll on from last season.

Too many lower teams took points away from us at home last season as has just been announced and we must correct it. I hope we don't win from coming back from behind again,my heart won't be able to take it.

    Lennon dives for a penalty.
Should've had one earlier and didn't go down, now he goes down with no contact. <doh>

Kranjcar hits a half-decent one, but the keeper saves.

Ridiculous foul given against Assou-Ekotto, which results in a chance for Llorente.
He heads over while struggling for position.

Some lovely moves being put together here, albeit with no end product.

    Jim Beglin is routinely awful.
I just tune him out automatically, now.

    Livermore on for Lennon.
Possibly in the middle, with Kranjcar going back out wide?

Bale, now on the right, clips one in to Crouch, who overdoes it and loses the ball behind, for a goalkick.
    Wasted.

Defoe nearly puts Bale in, but Bilbao's captain makes a very good tackle.
    Corner.

Kranjcar picks out Crouch from the set-piece, but it's saved well, despite Defoe clouding the keeper's view of it.

Defoe creates a bit of space for himself and hits one, a little wildly.
The crowd clap him for it.
    Says a lot, I think.

Is Walker the most inappropriately named player since Goodwillie?
    Engine.

    Game over.
    2-1.
Interesting to see what Redknapp does now.
Awful first half, excellent in the second.

Just like the lottery with a roll over.Ok so a win's a win and it's a friendly but there are too many comparisons with last season. I suppose that's because we have the same players as last season. We'd be daft to let Crouch go though. This reinforces my belief that we need a solid win against Everton next week and not another one goal coming from behind. If that happens we will have a similar season to last season.

Thought we looked good 2nd half. Play like this and we should start well.

I was impressed with Llorente(or just willing a signing) held up play well and has good feet for a big man

Music,it was the same last season. We looked poor in the first half and good in the second many times. Again there were some good moves but failed to capitalize on some good build up play. A new face or two is a must. Do that and we will start well.

We were poor in the first (though BAE was a stand-out) and better in the second, but vs the toffees neither line-up would be suitable.

We really need a ball winner in the centre of the pitch, that is obvious.

BUT a wins a win, and the confidence id the thing. Gomes played well, stood no chance with the goal and only one flappy moment. FREEdel didn't really get tested apart from deflections thatbeat him all ends up and nowt he could do about them, but didn't concede which makes a change.
