The fact that Kobayashi's raised $600k from his fans is in itself absolutely amazing, really goes to show what an impression he's made. Have to admit I'd pick Hulk over him on the basis of this season though. Proximity to Perez =/= a good season and (Spa aside) I don't feel either Sauber driver fulfilled the car's potential consistently this season... but I still don't want Kobayashi to leave earlier in the season I was daring to dream he might get Hamilton's seat at Mclaren
yeah, especially when you consider Perez's best result was achieved because he ****ed up in Malaysia and had to pit early, and managed to get away with 2 big off track excursions in the process, shows that luck really plays it's part. same could be said for Maldonados Barcelona win, without that he would've been soundly outscored by Senna.
Same goes for Perez's other 2nd place in Monza, wouldn't have happened if Kobayashi hadn't outqualified him
It was something I rasied in the Hamilton the Merc thread! I cant understand why Mclaren left it so late in negotiations with Lewis - the driver field was always week after the top 6 or 7 drivers. Hulk (with Hindsight) was an obvious contender, as was Kimi (who I'm sure would have had options in his contract), HK was probably as safe a bet as sonmeone like Perez. Unless there is a major turn around by Perez in the off season I can see Mclaren struggling similiar to Ferrari from a Team aspect - this may help JB though!
Could end up being that Hamilton scores no points for Merc and Perez does bugger all at McLaren and Hamilton is back at McLaren in 2014 by exiting Mercedes on a performance clause... Or they could both be battling for the title.... who knows...
Even though im a Button fan hes very lucky to be as close as he is to Hamilton. Lewis has had 5 retirements, 3 from mechanical failures and all while in the lead, mesmerizer how much he could of battered Button this year.
yeah, Hamilton has been awesome this season and I thought of the three he was the one to deserve the title for his driving.
