He has made the situation worse for Englands prospects and the position of the FA. Should have kept quiet.

We don't know that "the rest of the England squad have been talking to him saying they are unhappy about Terry being punished". Has there been a poll taken? Rio Ferdinand etc ? Ferdinand won't even pick up the arm band for him now.

The FA are "his" employers, and it's in his contract they can take these decisions, he is the Team Manager they employ, he doesn't run the whole show. He cocked up the last disciplinary situation with Terry.

He stripped Terry of the armband over the Vanessa Perroncel unproven "affair" but didn't have the bollock's to do it over a summary offence which was forwarded after an initial hearing to a further Magistrates Court. Not much leadership or consisitency there.

Now he won't talk to the press at all tonight! Got himself into a right mess. £6m pounds a year, my god!

    End of rant!

Correct we don't, that's why I said "For all we know". If he's going to be criticised for speaking out then all possibilities should be considered. Ferdinand's reasoning for it is supposed to be that he won't take the armband again because of what happened when it was taken from him before.

He's employed and paid a lot of money to pick the team and the captain. Had Terry been found guilty then fine, had it been decided that Terry shouldn't represent England then fine, that's like suspending someone from their job pending the outcome of a disciplinary. Apply it to any other company and senior management saying someone needs to be suspended for it is fine. You wouldn't get a director of a company though saying to a manager that they're fine with staff representing the company to the public, but not to let them do a specific task that anyone else in their position can be asked to do. That's interfering with Capello's job.

Hadn't Terry admitted that one though? Either way, he wasn't suing the papers for libel or pleading not guilty in a court case related to the accusations.

Joey Barton is potentially under investigation for contempt of court for prejudicing the Terry trial on Twitter. Terry being stripped of the captaincy by the FA is far more high profile and likely to prejudice the case than a QPR player on Twitter is.

There are plenty of players I suspect that disagree with Terry over this incident. Including some who heard first hand what was said on that day. Terry doesn't deny saying the words he spoke to Anton Ferdinand. Just like he didn't deny the affair. The England dressing room is likely to be split down the middle in supporting him or not. That's a situation that should be considered as well.

Forget this "innocent until proven guilty" position. There are plenty of situations were people step down from positions of responsibility in these circumstances where legal proceedings are awaited. People in high profile jobs do it all the time and wait to clear their name. Unfortunate but necessary for other peoples positions and to allow organisations to work. This is the England team we are talking about here, fragile and twitchy as ever, with a voracious media. The team would stand no chance at all of "shrugging" this off. It would be the only talking point.

How can you compare an affair with a model to being accused of racist abuse in public. That affair anywhere else in Europe would have been laughed off. Capello probably thought Terry still being Captain might affect team morale; well, didn't he think this current affair would do that, and giving some consideration to the black players in the England squad. Never mind the alledged victims brother.

I find it strange and suspicious that Capello has spoken out like this knowing his contract allows decisions of this magnitude can be taken by his employers. If he didn't know it, then he should have.

I have always been a believer in an England "Team" being an "England team"from players to Manager. The best 11 England players and the best England Manager being pitched against the opposition. Otherwise it's nonsense.

There is no action being taken against Joey Barton for his tweets.

That's quite some way to twist his defence to make out he's admitting guilt.

You tell me, you brought it up!

He probably anticipated that the FA would only take these decisions in an innocent until proven guilty way.

So you're already inclined to side against him because you don't think he should be manager anyway.

Terry's "defence" is that he said something like "Oi, Anton... do you think I called you a xxxxxxx xxxx xxxx". The xxxx bits is the phrase caught on video, (so he cannot deny it) he offers the preceeding phrase in his defence. So he doesn't deny saying the xxxx bits. A Judge will decide if Anton made it all up for some reason. However other players will have heard the exchange. So it's up to a Judge to decide after listening to both sides and witnesses. Sad but true.

Exactly, and yet you used that to make out he's admitting guilt over using the term. Using the term to question whether someone said you used it isn't racist, it's actually reasonable if you haven't called them it.

No, I said he didn't deny saying the words attributed to him. He did say them, and him saying them is a matter of record. He is defending himself in an incredulous way.........just think about it, how reasonable is that conversation in the middle of a Premier League football match between the Chelsea Captain and Ferdinand!

Anyway the Gendarmes may be coming round to warn me off soon, so I'll say no more about it! As per Joey Barton.

It's perfectly reasonable. He's had an argument with Ferdinand and is being accused of racist abuse. For starters if the ref has heard the accusation and Terry isn't defending himself despite hearing it then there'll be an immediate red card.

If he's asking Ferdinand whether he thinks he called him it then it means another player made the accusation, in which case of course it's reasonable to ask Ferdinand if he thinks he was called it.

If he's telling Ferdinand he didn't call him it then Ferdinand is the one making the claim and of course it's reasonable to continue arguing with him to deny the claim.

The only reason Barton isn't being charged is because it's not going to be trial by jury and he's too insignificant to have an impact on the thinking of the judge, that's why they've also issued a statement reminding people that the trial is still ongoing. The supposedly impartial FA have more chance of being seen to influence a judge by taking decisions.

Irrespective anyway, the decision about who the England captain should be should be down to the manager unless someone has been convicted or gone through FA disciplinary measures (which they're not able to do yet due to the fear of the outcome prejudicing the trial)

It is in the Managers remit to decide who can become captain, but the way Capello's contract is written the FA can take away the captains armband (and of course other things can be overruled as well) if the FA consider it important enough. You may not agree with such minute detail of the FA's contract but that is the point being made here. It's obvious you don't think that clause should be in the contract, but Capello signed it after scrutiny by his advisors, and was happy to take the money.

Capello should not have spoken out criticizng his employers who fork out £6m a year for him; money which comes from our game which we support week in, week out. There is plenty wrong with the current FA set up and it needs completely revamping, getting rid of the jobsworths and and getting real football people in to run it, buts that's another story.

This exchange started with my annoyance at Capello making matters worse for Englands prospects and I stick by that, I didn't want to get into a who said what at the QPR v Chelsea game, we can only sift through a few "facts" and "rumours". The Judge will decide who is lying in all this or maybe he won't be able to say. In the meantime IMO it's best for Terry to step down and for Capello to stop complaining about the consequences of what is written in his contract. Otherwise he may find himself losing whats left of his £6m this year.

John Terry is Innocent Until Proven Guilty. Sack the useless FA board. David Bernstein is a clueless proll and sports minister Hugh Robertson should keep his grubby nose out. Capello has every right to diss the FA and good on him for doing so. RESPECT.

Capello doesn't give a **** about England, he gave up a long time ago, he shouldn't even be picking the team, never mind the ****ing captain.

thats a seperate issue. for now he is still England manager and has every right to have a go. any manager worth his salt would do the same. Yet another FA foooook up.

the way things are going the next England manager will be chosen from the likes of Alan Pardew - Steve Bruce - Sam Allardyce - an other(from the bottom of the barrell).... <whistle>
