Thoughts that you know I agree with. It's a tough one imo. Barton certainly made a difference today, but without Charlie, it's hard to see us playing 4-2-3-1 and as you say, in our 4-4-2 today, we needed a defensive holding midfielder which would mean not playing one of Barton or Kranjcar. I would just add that I'm not sure we have the wide players that suit 4-4-2 either. They need to be able to work back and apart from Traore, they don't. Maybe a fluid 4-2-3-1 at home is still the one for me.
If all fit my team would be ----------------------Green--------------- Simpson----Dunne---Onouha---BAE Philips----Henry----Niko-----Hoilett ---------Austin-------Doyle------ Substitute Hill for Dunne O'Neill/Barton for Simpson Traore for BAE SWP/Barton for Hoilett or Philips Hughes/O'Neill for Henry Benayoun for Niko AJ, Maiga for Austin or Doyle
That's probably the 4-4-2 I'd pick too, but I still don't see those wide players working back enough. How about (whilst Charlie and Danny are out): --------------------------Green------------------------ Hughes----------Onuoha--------Hill/Dunne----------BAE ------------------Henry----------Barton--------------- Phillips----------------Kranjcar------------------Hoilett ------------------------Doyle-------------------------
