This is the one for me. this gets Roddy down the channels using his pace and Lambo flickingon the long balls from Kelv for him.
Rambo looks good on the left and looks good with Shaw.
Roddy might get the hang of playing on the left some time. He did it 2nd half against Spurs. Its all about arriving in the area at the right time when we're attacking.
Like the Pienaar header for Everton last week.

Looks nice, but I don't think you can take the striker out of Lambert. He might not be the most mobile, but it's no coincidence that he's scored as many as he has. The winger can move like a striker when the team make good use of the ball and the fullback/midfielder are there to cover. The man behind the striker really needs a whole different style and skillset, which I don't think he has.

Rickie spends large periods of every game in positions other than striker, so what's the difference? And in any case, the front four can be as fluid as they like to confuse the markers.

    Agree with Chilco,
I've suggested similar on another thread, put RL on the left, JR up top, Gaston in the middle, swapping positions throughout the game.
RL has played before in midfield, would cause alsorts of problems for opposition defences if we had our up-front players swapping about.

Agree with Chilco & Cru the reason 442 is dying its too static. Ricky knows when to go deep and when to get up front ... even if it is slowly.

Lambert shouldn't (and probably won't) be played in midfield, it'll never work. While he obviously has the technical ability to play anywhere in the front four he does not have the athleticism to shoulder the defensive responsibilities; Puncheon and Lallana have both been criticised at the beginning of the season for not tracking back enough, do you think Lambert will be better than that? Lambert already plays 'in the hole' and on the wing and in the centre, but if we play him where Ramirez plays now it'll just turn to 442 and we won't have enough bodies in the centre of midfield.

Reeves is being talked up in other threads. Would anyone play him next week?

Great opportunity for us to leapfrog them next week now. They will be missing Fletcher and we must fancy our chances of scoring against Titus Bramble!

How do you know they'll be without Fletcher? I know he got injured yesterday but has O'Neill ruled him out for next week?

Sounded very downbeat in his interview. He wasn't fully fit anyway then picked up an additional injury.

Danny Rose also appears to have picked up a knock.

Saints Team: Davis; Clyne, Fonte, Yoshida, Shaw; Schneiderlin, Cork; Puncheon, Lambert, Ramirez; Rodriguez.

Lambert pulls wide left often enough as it is. Try and get Rodriguez to take on Bramble and O'Shea for pace.

Yep they have far more injury problems than us. Has to be a good time to be playing them.
