Assuming Kelvin is fit and Chaplow isn't what side would you start with on Sunday? Will Nigell start with last weeks 11?

Well Radio Solent have tweeted: "#saintsfc boss Nigel Adkins tells @solentsport "everyone's fit for selection, ahead of derby v #pompey"

I find it slightly hard to believe that Chaplow AND Connolly are both fit, but maybe they are. (Everyone can't literally mean everyone though, as that would include Jaidi and Seaborne as well)

So long as we have width and don't use the 4312, I'm not hugely bothered.

FWIW though:

Davis
Richardson...Fonte...Hooiveld...Fox
Reeves...Cork...Hammond...Lallana
Lambert...Guly

We could always put Reeves or Lallana in the hole and put Guly out wide if we needed something a bit different.

Exactly what I thought. Perhaps they mean no new injuries. Pretty sure KD will be fit, assume Fonte must be over his bug, and hoping Chaplow fit (perhaps on bench?).

Davis
Richardson, Fonte, Hooiveld, Fox
Chaplow, Hammond, Cork, Lallana
Guly, Lambert

Subs:
Bart, Harding, Schneiderlin, De Ridder, Connolly

This (but with Martin instead of Harding on the bench) if Chaplow is fit (Connolly likewise).

If however Chaplow isn't, then 4-4-3 (can be adjusted to 4-5-1 when defending):

Davis
Richardson, Fonte, Hooiveld, Fox
Morgan, Hammond, Cork
Guly, Lambert, Lallana

I wouldn't pick Martin, personally you are more likely to have a game changer in Harding as opposed to Martin, that's my opinion anyway lol :)

I picked that team because it is one of our more successful line-ups this season and we still have impact players on the bench <ok>

Agreed. But I'm just never comfortable without a CB on the bench (as I've said before, I'd rather a CB than a GK on the bench). And if you're only going to select four outfield players on your bench, you can't really have two of them being defenders.

don't think this is the right games to give reeves his forst start, if chaplow is injured play either holmes, guly or de ridder on the wing, or alternatively play the diamond

Guly on the wing would presumably mean Lambert up front on his own presuming Barnard and Connolly are both still out. De Ridder is best as an impact player and Holmes has been injured too much to build up any sort of momentum. The diamond is uselessss away from home if the opposition have width, which we found out to our cost against Brizzle. Just saying, reeves is an option.

I thought Saints looked a lot more secure, and kept the ball better, when Harding came on last week - difficult to leave him out.

Reeves? No,he is not up to it mentally.

Personally speaking I would drop Guly , he has been awful in the last few away games and I can't help but feel this game will be to much for him and he will go missing. Would go with a 451 with a midfield of De Ridder , Cork ,Hammond ,Morgan and Lallana which can very quickly become 433 when we are attacking to support Rickie. Quite frankly I think it is going to be an awful game and would take a draw right here and now. Cant say I am looking forward to my trip to Fratton but having lived in the city for 8 years and taken a lot of stick in the past I cant take the chance of not being present should Saints win.

TV always go for games like this, but I would be amazed if it was a good game (other than Saints winning of course) because of the pressure. We'll try to play expansive football, whilst Pompey will try and close us down and score on the break. Probably a scrappy game won by a single goal. Also suspect if we score first Pompey will get a player sent off. Connolly and Chaplow both back to training now...could tip the game in our favour if either available even on the bench.

If one of barnard or connolly is fit then

Davis
Richardson Fonte Hooiveld Fox
Guly Schneiderlin Cork Lallana
Lambert Connolly/Barnard

If not could switch Lallana to the right and play fox as left mid with harding left back
