There's no need to make sweeping changes, we're 2 games into the season after a non-intensive pre-season. This is a competition we can go far in, and a couple of days is plenty for players to recover in time for Fulham. There will just be very light training inbetween the two games, and Fulham are also playing mid-week so not like they'll have any advantage over us. I'd go:

    Harper
    Simpson
    Colo
    Williamson
    R Taylor
    Obertan
    Tiote
    Gosling
    Jonas
    Ba
    Best

The likes of Smith, Ferguson, Marveaux, Vuckic, Kadar, Lovenkrands etc on the bench.

I would say start Marveaux or Ferguson on the left but R Taylor benefits from Jonas' work rate. I'd be worried if he was left exposed. If we get a lead then bring them on. Leave Joey out, don't want him picking up a 3rd yellow so early on in the season. This team can win by a couple of goals.

Why use so many first teamers though? With all due respect it's not a difficult draw and playing a strong side eradicates the advantage we have over Fulham from them playing midweek.

My line up 'rests' 5 players from the Sunderland game, almost half the team. The likes of Ba, Best, Gosling and Williamson need games. I think if we play Kadar, Smith, Vuckic, Abeid, Marveaux etc we could be in for a tough match. There's no need to put out a side with 11 changes this early in the season.

Don't forget that after Fulham there is a two week break due to internationals. Absolutely no need to put out a risky team. I'd rather win comfortably with experience than have our nerves tested with a lot of inexperienced and untested players. If we build a solid lead then they will get their chance.
