Speaking to a few who went last night the feedback was very similar to Saturday's performance. Came out the blocks and played them off the park. Then sat back and took it easy whilst stepping up every now and then. When I looked at the highlights I from Saturday's I was surprised as I thought second half was quite dull compared to first half but yet the highlights showed lots of the second half. Perhaps we was so good in the first half it made us in the ground (and Mike on his streaming link) not appreciate the second half. But the ones I spoke to today said some of the football last night was a joy to watch especially Patterson's goal. We are all waiting for the wheels to come off but so far very good 8 scored 1 conceded in 2.
It's in my nature not to get overconfident - if one was being dour, they'd say that all we've done is beat a Barnsley side, ravaged of their star players from last season & set for a season of struggle, & a 2nd string Plymouth team. However, l can't help but be impressed by the performances in each game, as well as the Twente friendly - the speed of passing and movement has been particularly striking. I'm worried that we might be susceptible to bullying - certain managers that resemble old women from last of the summer wine could well tell their side to just kick lumps out of us & we need to be prepared for the times we won't be given the opportunity to pass it about at will.
Now, who might you be referring to there I wonder? Not the gaffer for our sheep-worrying cousins from across the Severn by any chance?
