Team for Next Year

I am not normally one for doing this but with my shift patterns lately, I haven't been on as much as I would have liked so I would like to gather everyone's thoughts on next season now that we are safe in the Premiership for another season!

I would like to see a more attacking team for next season, hopefully we can get a few quality signings in to enhance our squad.

I would like to see a 4-2-3-1 formation for next season:

I do not know much about M'Bengue from Toulouse but I have seen his name being linked to us, and he does have the 'Tiote-type' signing look about him. I wouldn't mind seeing him sign for us.

We also need a new Centre Back in my opinion. I would love to see Samba here but it is unlikely to happen, despite a lot of excitement on here about him. Personally, I think we should try for 1 of the Birmingham centre halves, Dann or Johnson.

We could do with some more attacking quality from midfield, possibly Kranjcar or Payet from St Ettiene, who looks really impressive.

Strikers are anyones guess, I think we need two of them - a big target man and a small nippy striker. There are so many options but I would love to see Sow here, along with Gameiro (although, it is unlikely). Who would you like to see.


In terms of out-goings, I do not want to let go of too many. I think Campbell is certain to go. We do not need Perch, he can go. If we get anything above 1 million for Smith, I would take that. Shola or Lovenkrands can go, if not both.


I think next season, our aim should just be to stay safe again. I don't think we should expect too much of the lads next season. Second season syndrome can kick in and we will be shown more respect, teams will just sit back at St James, more so than this season so we may struggle to get as many chances as this season. Of course, there is no harm in aiming for the sky, but realistically, if we get 10-13th next season, I will take that. The year after we can start to dream of a European Challenge, if we get some proper investment.

Pardew has said that HBA will be playing the number 10 role

 

I know he's said that, but I think people are latching onto it too much. Often teams start the season defensive and become more attacking. We started this season playing 4-5-1 (almost 4-2-3-1) but for the majority it's been 4-4-2. Injuries etc will play their part.

This for me would work the best.
Some one for our small quick player to play off.

 

I do really like this idea of having HBA in behind.
I could see him playing quite a free role getting into little holes behind the defense and making good runs.
a Tevez/Suarez role maybe??
He could cause al sorts of problems...
