There is no suggestion he will be a regular or replacing Elmo. What is being said is that Monday we looked vulnerable at the back, and Rossy is the best defensive full back we have, and SB might just bring him in to shore things up. Most times if they are the player in the pre-match presser they play, but as Tickles would say TWT.
I can see team from the OP. Not sure Ramirez is ready to start a game yet and I think playing the diamond in midfield with Elmo and Robertson at full back away from home is a little risky. Saying that whenever you think its a fairly obvious team Bruce comes up with a surprise inclusion.
You may well be right, that is why I said most times, anyhow tomorrow we will know, I just feel SB will look to try and stiffen the defence especially away from home.
There's a very strong rumour that Rosenior is to be made club captain. Not sure how that works given that Davies is captain on the field, so I'm guessing it's just an honourary title.
Yes I agree, we did look too susceptible to attacks coming in from the wide areas with a back four and Robbo and Elmo as full backs. Both are great going forwards but are liable to be targeted by opposition managers as a likely source of an opening. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a return to a back 5 with Chester slotting in or even him coming in as a deep sitting centre mid. I think he'd actually make the ideal sweeper if we ever wanted to try that set up. If we do go for 5 at the back I could see Quinny dropping to the bench with Livermore, Hudd and Diame in midfield with Jelavic and Hernandez up front. Subs: Harper, Rosie, McShane, Meyler, Quinn, Brady, Ince,
Yes I can see SB going to 3 centre backs and bringing Chester in, if not amd the same formation as Monday, maybe Rossy coming in a right back, Elmo right wing back, with Livermore taking left side mid-field with Quinny dropping to the bench.
Same team as Monday but we could do with jake sitting in front of the back 3 move Thudd further forward!
There's going to be 15000 Pardew out leaflets wafting in the wind come kick-off time and a toxic atmosphere of hate radiating towards the Newcastle dugout as the whistle blows. We need to go for the jugular first 10 minutes. Take a 1-0 lead early on and the place will implode with self-fear and loathing, from which there will be no way back. Geordie self-doubt, raped expectations and solipsistic misery. Bring it on. I can't wait.
4-5-1 for tomorrow.. McG Rosie, Chessie, Dawson, Davies Thud, Diame, Ram, Jake, Elmo Abel Bench; Harper, Robertson, McShane, Ince, Jelavic, BenArfa, Brady
