Targett is a solid lb, not as fast as Shaw but is better at crossing. He also always holds his position instead of drifting inside etc, he will be a class player if he continues to progress.

As for playing right now?, I would leave it until next season. So have Fox as back up to Shaw and Targett back up to Fox, then in the summer sell Fox.

Why not have to young lb's if they are good enough?, Shaw is definitely first choice now(like I said he would be at the start of the season :p). Targett holds his position far better then Fox does already, It would be brilliant having two young English lb's in our first team squad.

Quite happy not running the club! I'm not the one saying fox simply cannot cut it. Sure there are better defenders out there but I've always liked his deliveries. But as people keep moaning about fox, and shaw is injured, surely the consensus is he is not good enough and we need better? The arsenal remark was not serious, as i stated above I've become cynical about players leaving having been developed and brought on by us.

Yeah Fox does seem to be very unpopular with Saints fans, which is surprising considering he's not nearly as bad as people try to make out, I just don't think that we should have signed a left back just in case Shaw got injured, Fox is very capable as back up as he has proved with a strong display at Old Trafford the other week.

Maybe its because we got used to the idea of a more 'exciting' player when we were after Buttner, then we failed to sign anyone. I agree, there's always a figure of hate. Earlier in the season people were calling for Fonte's head, now we cant wait to have him back.

On a seperate note I also feel sorry for Richardson. Felt he was excellent in the champ, countless assists.

We seem to be forgetten that Forren can also play LB so NC did buy top quality cover for the LB position. Also at the beginning of the season Shaw was seen as someone with talent but was not really standing out during the youth games where he made a few mistakes leading to goals. If Targett is to play then he must play the same way as Shaw did for the first 6 games- concentrate on defence, and dont leave the flank open by attacking too much. Also see that Stephens has been moved into the midfield from defence (Cork like position). Its a shame both U21 and U18 teams got mullered on the weekend so players could not show off to the new boss

Fox is decent it's his positioning that gets on peoples nervs. Shame he isn't a few years younger as we maybe could have sorted his positioning out, but now it seems it's ingrained into him.

Agree about Richardson. Has barely had a look-in this year, and now seems to have Jack Cork ahead of him at RB as demonstrated on Saturday.

    He was superb last season.

Richardson is comfortably better than Cork at right back. Doesn't make sense at all to me

Ivory Coast are in a third place game on Saturday, yet there are reports that say Yaya will be back here and in contention for Saturday, hope not.

I like Richardson, think he's been unlikely because he's been injured so much and then struggled to get back to fitness, if it wasn't for that I think he definitely would have had a lot more opportunities. But as a result, Luke Shaw may have had less as he only got in because Richardson got injured when we were playing Richardson RB, Clyne LB then Fox came back in and continued to under perform which gave Luke his shot.

I really must pay more attention, but the few games I watched were so boring, I`m standing in the corner right now. So bollocks look like granddad will be playing against us

A small part of me is looking forward to watching Yaya Toure in action. He is a world class player (along with a fair few others in the City team) but I think Toure is City's best player and certainly most influential.
