Bruce apparently said on Humberside today that he only sees Fathi as a full back and feels sorry for him. Yet he's played many games for Egypt and Al-Ahly as RWB and has great energy and passing ability as said above. What is Bruce missing. Does he ever talk to Fathy's Al-Ahly coaches or watch his videos??? To play his son ahead of him in mid-field is troubling???
Fathi just gets better everytime he doesn't play. We saw him for very little time and he looked very rusty, he suffers from Stewart and Cairney disease where they get a lot better when they don't play. Bruce sees him everyday and clearly doesn't think he is good enough or ready yet.
If Cairney or Stewart ever get 91 international caps, I might think that was a reasonable assumption, but as neither has managed one yet(Cairney only has to get in the Scotland squad ffs), then I'll continue to suggest that we're missing a trick. Having seen his sub appearance at the KC and heard about his better performance away at Palace, I'd gladly put £10k on him being a better option in midfield than Bruce.
I wonder how far we can push this. I'd gladly put £20k and my Johnny Logan album ( the one with What's Another Year on it ) on him being a better option in midfield than Bruce.
Well said OLM. Fathi's international credentials and quality are beyond question. Anyone who has watched the numerous videos of his international and World Club Championhsip games for Al Ahly against Corinthians knows what an outstanding player he is. To mention him in the same breath as Cairney and Bruce is simply ludicrous...to everyone apparently except our Manager.
Fathi is the greatest rwb cb CM hull city AFC have ever had fact. 91 caps don't lie. I fully expect a top European team or Man U to sign him next season. Steve Bruce has no clue whatsoever.
Do you think Bruce is saying he sees him in a different role to the one occupied by his son, to make sure that stays that way? All a bit dodgy. I had high expectations so I kept a close eye on Fathi. During the warm up vs palace I paid close attention, and he has a hell of a driven shot and when he came he was so composed. Maybe not what we're used to in this league as a cdm but the lad can hold and control the ball. It's an absolute farce that he's not playing. I feel really sorry for him to have come all this way for what exactly? You just have to play him at some point. Especially with injuries and what not. It's ****ing Ghilas all over. I can imagine maybe he's not giving 100% in training because he's already voiced his opinion and his disappointment on the matter but a guy with 91 caps for one of the 3 best nations in africa. What a joke.
One more injury to a CH means we'll be forced to 4-4-2. If that's the case, then Fahti might get his chance at RB, unless SB thinks Rosenior is a better option......
Boyds the only scorer at home since the birmingham game and the only scorer all together since burnley away :/
Plenty of points to be won away though. If we go up in second (or better) it will be our away form that secures it.
Thank SB we got him then! I'd play: Stockdale Chester Faye Bruce Elmo Fathi Evans Quinn Brady Gedo Boyd
Absolutely spot on Circa. It is a complete joke that he's not playing. Anyone who has watched his international performances would know that Fathi is an incredible player and that Alex Bruce and Evans are not even in the same league. One of the most talented players on the squad and he sits on the bench.
Fathi is the new Ghilas of our times. I trust Bruce on this, he obviously is not good enough for our league and it's too late to find out now in anycase. In terms of his international appearance didn't our own Theo get 100 plus, never saw him rip up a league as high as this one either did we, and Peter Crouch stats for England look bloody amazing until your realise he scored against the crappest international teams on the planet
It will not be an issue about Alex Bruce playing in midfield anymore, so all that bollox can stop. A number of factors cost us the game on tuesday, fact. Its over - get over it and move on. I would have played Fathi @ Udders instead of Meyler but Quinns injury may have put the kibosh onto that idea if SB was thinking about doing it. IMO, It will be either Evans or Fathi who partners Quinn in midfield. Boyd and Simpson to start. Gedo as an impact sub just in case. The rest pick themselves. It will be nice to see Andy Dawson on the team sheet once again as one of the 7 subs.
