They could equally not, your whole argument is that FIFA might do something, well they might do something as well, so it's a moot point that has no basis one way or the other.

Like i said earlier your confidence in FIFA to look after our interests is admirable, personally you can not trust them

olympics is where britain as a whole compete in under the flag of the union jack. so as wales, scotland, england an N ireland come under that flag then everyone is entitled to play if chosen for GB. whether you are welsh or any other of the HOME NATIONS dont matter a jot.... you are representing the home nations that comes under the banner of GB and the union flag....I hope now that team GB will be in every olympics from now on in.....wales is such a small country that i dont think we would survive by just selling cockles, so thank god we are part of the united kingdom...

The thing is MabonJack you are assuming that FIFA will have the will for this, I don't think they have as if it happens to us, it could happen elsewhere and I am sure forced merging of countries will be challenged and voted against. Do I trust Blatter ? No ! Do I trust FIFA ? What options do we have except leaving them , we have no option!

The only problem I see is qualifying for it, it's traditionally been the under 21 euro championship, we have always played that as Wales , so don't know how they will figure that one out

we as a poor nation need the rest of the uk. we are small with no industry left to speak off and no money to start anything worth while back up. Scotland if they get independence will be begging to rejoin the union before they know it when they find that the oil they are relying on wont be enough for them to survive, they will be taxed to high heaven and you will see many thousands of ordinary folk wanting to move out of scotland,,,We dont have a cats hell chance of ever going it alone as we have nothing to trade with now with all the industries finished during the tory era. what are we going to live on....it will never happen in a million years.....

Hopefully the future brings a Gold medal for a few young Swans from Wales & then back to trying to get Wales on the up . On a side note , I wonder if any of the Olympic Welsh players playing for Great Britain had opportunity to play for another country in international football , but chose Wales over a loophole country . If so , hardly seems fair to bring sanctions against this type of player

And if you have your way we will always be a poor nation, dai dont you wonder why Wales,Scotland,N ireland you were offered devolution, and the english were offered regional assemblies, have you not noticed that the devolved countries are being given more powers every few years, scotland is going for independance in 2014, which will mean a devo max settlement, they want Wales to have tax raising powers, can you see a pattern there and can you see where it is going.

What about players like Bale , Bellamy & Ramsey where they've played long enough in England for a club team & I think they could play for the English in international football but play for Wales ?

Yes devolved powers, but in the same way as american states have devolved powers, scotland going for independence is sure going to bring a lot of problems for them, they cannot raise enough taxes to run their country, like us the rely on the rest of the UK to function. I should imagine they will collapse economically within years. But I have serious doubts they will go for it once they know what's involved.

the scots will not vote for independance, they will go for devo max, which means that they remain within the current structure, but they can raise their own taxes and the british government have no say other than defence and border control
