He impressed for 3-4 months and wasn't offered a new deal. If he was gonna stay it would have been all wrapped up by now. He probably feels he did his best but it wasn't enough and now will leave in the summer - so he won't reap any benefits if we go up. Hence his form has dipped - basic human nature...... You watch - he'll bag a hat-trick in the replay
I don't think Simpson is an out & out goal scorer, he holds the ball up well, passes well, but obviously finishing is not what he's best at. He should be used more to hold the ball up on the edge of the box & slip the ball through for the other striker or advanced midfielder that's running in. That was what I saw him do best against Leicester & Leeds, that's also why I couldn't understand Aluko being so deep ion both of those games.
To be fair then, with the fact that we have Koren and Jay who both play that role and Aluko also a roaming non striker the question is why did we sign Prozzer who also clearly wants to come deep for the ball and play link-up with a striker? I do wonder how often we watched him or did we just look at his height, his goals record and assume he was a target man?
You do wonder don't you, I still think he can get on the end of Elmo & Brady's crosses but isn't the type of striker to play through balls to
For once I agree with you, I rate Simmo - he's a decent player. He's played the line striker role whilst Aluko was injured (thankless task) when paired with Aluko, they were a real handful.
I think it's hard to even tell what type of striker Simpson is, he's certainly not a goalscorer, holds up the ball well at times but isn't good in the air, he's very strange. And he won't be a Hull City player come next season.
top post ! I like him, he's a good player but not quite good enough for us. Pretty sure we won't be offering him a new contract. Can't see him going in January though !
He can talk to clubs outside of England now. He can't talk to English clubs (or Swansea, Cardiff, Wrexham etc) until June, unless they ask us and we agree of course.
