In this modern age offering highlights within minutes of full time whistles being blown I think MOTD has become irrelevant, I haven't watched it since we lost our place in the Premiership. The pundits are sh1te anyway.
Great. Get rid of all the pundits. Show just the highlights, cut the length of the programme by half then I.........actually, i still probably wont watch it.
When I am having my breakfast on a Sunday morning and I switch the tv on, if the mags are on and I know they’ve been beat I enjoy a watch before I change channel

It was much better on the occasion that the pundits didn't turn up for work in protest at Lineker's dressing down. Having said that, I do quite like the Match of the Day Top 10s with Lineker, Shearer, and Micah Richards.

The BBC have been able to syndicate MOTD all over the world for years,hence Lineker's and Mary's value to them. I don't watch it,but I know lots who do. I'm expecting the new presenter to be ethnic,female,gay....as the BBC seeks to protect itself from various third party,social media accusations. We'll see.
I've heard the new presenter is going to be Jeremy Clarkson, flanked by Roy Keane, Graeme Souness and Nigel Farage. Edit:: Frequent guest appearances by Ron Atkinson.
Let's face it, the job isn't difficult is it ... ... they only need three attributes. Be able to chuckle when the two ex-footballers are trotting out ancient quips like, 'I'd have got a nosebleed if I'd gone that far up the pitch'. Manage to read an autocue with the odd comment and dreadful pun at the end. And errr .... OK perhaps you only need two attributes
