I would imagine most people will agree with that, although it’s got bugger all to do with him being treated different to Andrew Neil, or do you think it has.
There is no real freedom of speech now. It depends on what you want to say. Try saying for instance that in your opinion a gay couple are not ideal for adopting children. Or that you believe a man is a man, a woman is a woman and that one cannot become the other. You might receive a visit from the police .
He was comparing the kind of rhetoric being used ... ... he wasn't suggesting Braverman.is about to invade Poland.
You're perfectly entitled to voice that opinion, nothing to do with the police. Haranguing a gay couple is slightly different.
He appeared to me to be trying to suggest that in trying to stem illegal immigration, the government was acting in a manner of the Nazis in the 30s and their demonising and hounding of Jews. Braverman's remarks bore no similarity at all to what happened then, although it’s quite possible Lineker doesn't actually understand this. For him, and many others, the routine schoolyard standard insult thrown at anyone they either don't agree with or don't understand is "Nazi!" or "Facist!".
You would hope so. But a journalist was indeed visited by a senior police officer for the first of those two examples, and told her story on R4 a while back. And anyone voicng the second at many places would find themselves looking for another job. As has happened to Suzanne Moore at the Guardian and Bari Weiss at the NYT.
And ....conveniently, the press are no longer talking about Matt Hancock's leaked What'sapp messages. Lineker is the patsy here in the deflection that has took the heat off more sleaze (incredibly) linked to this bunch of crooks masquerading as servants of the people.
Give over...The BBC are the most biased of all the major broadcasters until recently. They want to go on with the hard line left wing biased views that Kuensberg, Peston to a extent before he jumped ship, Matliss and Robinson have been pushing for years then it is time that the license fee was scrapped. The BBC used to be a unbiased public broadcaster for years but that all fell apart back at the beginning of the 2000's
The sooner the country has a general election the better. Its hard the fathom how the Tories (with the majority they have) seem to bounce from one self inflicted disaster to another, I'm so pleased I live abroad and don't have to put up with their s hit on a daily basis. I'm not sure the alternative are that great, but they have to better than this incompetent, immoral, sleaze ridden lot.
I haven't read previous pages so sorry if already posted, but I feel he will be on Sky before too long.
Frank skinner, Ade edmundson(QPR fan) and Peter kay now they would be a good replacement. and the Beeb bring politics in as usual. be interesting to see watch match of the day tonight. and Gaz is on B T sport any how doing the champions league.
I reckon some of the BBC staff who have stood down have done so not out of principal but feeling pressured to. Bit like a scab during a strike..
