Looking forward to seeing it. Already decided I am going to make sure I get up for the first home game of the season. Want to be part of that atmosphere that shows KLD what he's bought into.

A good summer of transfer business and a restriction free climate could lead to a sell out, IMO

It seems as though some think we may have offered all 4 new deals. For Denver and Luke,I would generally be in favour of that,although I do think Denver needs to get his longstanding injury sorted once and for all.
Luke,I think,has earned the chance to progress his career with us.
As for Aiden and Charlie,I'm not so sure. If it's our intention to try to get some of the younger lads into the side,we've got to make sure they don't look for Aiden every time they get the ball.....our opponents in this league are well able to stifle those predictable moves. Also,I'm not sure the rest of the team can read what Aiden is doing,because he basically has free role. LJ will have to get hold of that and sort it.
As for Charlie,this is the real enigma! I absolutely don't feel right about wanting a 30 goal striker to leave, but,with him, I never see a centre forward leading the line as I think it should be done.He doesn't seem strong enough for the role he's playing especially for a big lad.His hold up play is poor,too many offsides,far too many free-kicks given away. I've said elsewhere,I would love to know how many of his one-touch goals have come off his knee,his shin,or his ankle,although I do acknowledge there have been some excellent finishes when the ball is on a plate for him,with his head also.However,if there is any element of prior control of the ball involved,he mostly comes up short,and I would dread to think that our attacking strategy next season would be more of the same....give it to Aiden,let him ping it in to Charlie.. that didn't lead to success this season, and isn't going to next......we need a more fluid,higher tempo,much more mobile approach, and I'll be disappointed if we end up with more of the same.

 

I'd say just because we offered contracts it doesn't mean they're meaningful offers. I'm expecting Hume and O'nein possibly being only ones who renew, if they want to stay, they are apparently in demand. Wyke has had offers from league above and McGeady also rumored to have had offers so wouldn't be surprised to have none of them here next year. I think we have to hope the recruitment team have plenty of options and we get deals done quick. I think having a brand new squad is not a bad thing but they must be given the majority of pre season to gel..

No point in us offering contracts that we know will be turned down though marra. Obviously,I have no details....or even if it's true...but,if we offered Wyke a new contract it must be for at least two years.....McGeady maybe only one,given his age. Anyway,if we're offering any kind of contract,it must be because we want them to stay.......worrying for me.

Clubs offer terms to players they know won't be accepted all the time. They can then tell the world they offered a deal, wanted a player to stay but they chose to leave. I'm not saying this is the case but certainly could be. I'd expect to find out before end of June as those out of contract will want new deals sorted prior to pre season.

 

Yep,you're right. Wasn't considering the PR viewpoint. I have several intelligent women in my life,one of whom is my lovely sister,who has scolded me many times to say that I don't have any inbetween....everything is either right or wrong! Another example here...if one were needed!

 

It appears that one club (Bristol City) have ruled themselves out of signing Charlie Wyke this summer.

Would not blame him to be fair- he's 22 years old, has rarely featured for our team, if he isn't going to be given assurances for next season he'll be in the team, then he'll be off.

 

It's always been like that to be honest. Remember it at Roker. We're not unique either. Look at Chelsea who slaged Alonso, who has now helped them win the European Cup. It's all about opinions and I'm sure there'll be lots of debate over the coming months.
