He refers to criticisms over team selection, which suggests that he reads social media. I wonder which forums he reads? Probably twitter (which I've left), maybe CL maybe ITTV because they are Charlie's stooges. We're probably too small. Or are we? Are you out there, Nate?
Having had a catch up of other Charlton social media and Twitter, it feels like the overall mood has turned against Nathan Jones to an extent. One comment I agreed with -we are one more defeat away from the crowd turning on him. Criticising our must loyal fans at Bristol Rovers was very silly, and overall I think Jones’ results and tactics so far suggest he’s not as good a manager as he thinks he is. There’s more chance of him walking away in fit of pique than the skint owners sacking him though …
Nathan Jones claimed post match yesterday that we now have 7-8 serious injury issues within the squad, and this is affecting us. Some are definitely an issue - Lloyd Jones being a glaring loss, and ditto Ramsay. He’s got a cheek even mentioning Chuks Aneke in the same sentence as the two above - he is always injured, and his continued presence at the club is an embarrassment. Interesting that OAP ex Luton star Dan Potts is already out injured too
Big question marks now IMO. I’m not saying get rid of him - there’s no point yet under Scott & Methven, but based on the three big factors you judge a manager by - player recruitment, style of football, and results, Nathan Jones isn’t cutting the mustard.
Nathan Jones says we lost too many duels, tackles and headers today. He said very similar last week, and the week before.
Nathan Jones would know full well that underdogs in FA Cup ties will always play up and go for the giant-killing. (OK we're hardly a giant compared to them - not these days. But you get my drift...) Any fool knows that. Didn't our manager warn his players that Southend would scrap for everything?
Having directed Plays for many years it is similar to a football manager. You rehearse thoroughly, you go through parts that aren't strong, making them stronger. You offer words of encouragement. But once they are on that pitch/Stage they can mess up the lines and do things that you haven't rehearsed.
Reports from fans who were there say that it was Southend who were passing the ball around while we were going long ball.
Jones now has a 33% win rate at CAFC in the Third Tier of English football. He’s not been backed, but he’s been allowed to sign the ex Luton players he wanted. “Improvement” is non existent to all but a handful of our biggest geeks. Another season wasted - get him gone.
This is the point, we're getting regularly outplayed. Apart from the Stockport game we don’t play through the midfield, can't counter attack, can't keep the ball except when we pass it round the back 4, which invariably ends with a hoof usually by the goalie under pressure
Rob Edwardes on the way out at Luton, I wonder whether the Hatters might want their Saviour back ? It could be a solution that suits everyone- he is clearly a one club man.
