Rather than square it to Anderson to prod into an empty net he had a shot from an acute angle and missed. The other chance he should have scored from but was offside anyway.
He's got form when it comes to jumping ship. He seems to be referring to comments on social media about his team selection which is incredible. Football is all about opinions, and in the previous 2 games we were dreadful,, he admitted himself that he got things wrong. Makes no sense.
You can get away with the personality foibles & the rustic style of football if you are getting results. Is Jones particularly likeable - no . Is Jones football attractive - again, no. He is going to need the results in his time with us.
As @The Penguin pointed out a few months ago, Nathan Jones needs us just as much as we need him. He clearly wants the Cardiff job at some point, but his next move will be Rhyl Town if he fails again with us.
He had a great game on Saturday and milked the applause afterwards, but his interview has taken the gloss off for me.
I could not give a s*** about his interviews as long as he gets results. We're hanging in there at present.
Without going back on my support of Jones, I must say I cannot agree with his public slating of the fans. It must be a welsh thing being emotional and publicly critical.
Apparently he also calls players “fella” in the dressing room and told Alfie May “I’m going to have to let you go”.
I think Jonesy is a bit religious. This can in some individuals in very remote circumstances bring out a sense of superiority and obstination. I’m not saying he is gonna have bible classes at half time but he is gonna be a pain the arse. obviously his faith will be tested when Cardiff offer more dough.
I think Jones is a fundamentalist - not the type that chops of your head but he has a strict following of his type of football and those that play it. He has demonstrated that in spades so far. He reminds me of a character in a cheesy USA film that quietly enjoys being abused and ridiculed over his sporting beliefs and in the end they win the superbowl or something. I’m not sure proper football and life is like that.
A few sensible Southampton fans jumped on our timeline after Jones’ outburst. Their view from his time at Southampton was “it’s his way or the highway”, and that he quickly resorts to moaning when things are not going to plan. We are seeing a similar pattern with us. Fans will swallow this IMO if he gets results, by which I mean the Play Offs this season. Nobody bar Hawtrey will be accepting a top 10 finish from NJ.
