It is difficult to see any outcome other than a new manager come January, the situation is untenable now. This is a shame as I think MM would have seen us safely into a second season and, although I am not fussed on the way he puts out the team for the most part, survival is the key word. Excellent manager that a few will have their eye on. Tan has, without thought of damage, put the fans against him with the rebrand issue, some were almost waiting for such a time as this to say I told you so. The fact is he has bankrolled this club out of the championship and gave a budget that can be envied by quite a few teams in the PL. If it's a choice between the two of them then it isn't a choice, we need Tan. I have seen a few on the boards say they would rather be in league 2 and blue than put up with Tan anymore. Well I remember the times when you could walk through the grange end into the bob bank and not bump into a soul, you can keep those times. This argument seems of design rather than something that has just blown up, Malky isn't one to normally go into who he wants in a transfer market, we need to stop and consider that, and the fact he has had dealings aplenty with Tan, so would have at least an inkling how this would go down. Tan hasn't held back in saying what he thought of it, unfortunately that was put out in the open, both men should have followed some rules here perhaps and discussed this inhouse. I can't see it being long before we are discussing the next manager, but I really hope it isn't the case.
I'm not sure I agree Taff. Why does VT need to play games. His club, his rules. Moody's sole job was head of recruitment, leave Lim out for a minute (whilst I agree with the comments above). Recruitment **** up, bye bye Moody. No debate, no regards given to the consequences. Just sacked. If VT wants rid of MM and nothing else, he'd have been sacked already IMO. I thinks the transfer thing has really pissed off VT. hearing MM declaring another 10mill + needed to be spent will have pissed him off in some style. So he has responded in kind, I think MM's comments about not having an issue if there's no money is a consession that he shouldn't have declared his transfer intentions/requirements the way he did. If MM stops getting results and drops us into the bottom 3 none of this will help him with VT's decision at that point, but I just don't see VT risking the PL dream for as long as MM is fulfilling it. There's no doubt that his position is rattling towards untenable but I (maybe over optimistically) don't think it's there yet.
Could be Taff and a stuffing at Anfield on Sunday could see it happen. AVB to replace him? I bloody hope not.
Agree 100% if Tan goes it would be League2 it's no longer the loss of 10points, HMC&E are no longer a soft touch they can and will shut us down and I can't see the English clubs coming to our aid.
The problem i see in tan going is he won't walk, he'll sell. Now you might luck out and get a very rich owner with a long term interest in us having a PL status Who hopes to build a valuable asset (all of that describes tan). Or you get what Portsmouth had and some bunch of pricks spot a chance to buy for cheap, rape and pillage the place sucking up all the PL money and parachute payments, leaving us struggling to exist in front of 2k fans a week in L2 (probably in Blue).
But would Tan walk away with £150m owed to him? It would be the same issue as Sam's loan notes unless VT has done what he promised and converted loans into shares. While he is absolutely loaded £150m is not pocket money and anyone who makes big money also hates losing it. He needs us to keep going, stay in the Prem and then float us to get his money back. I would hate us to do a Pompey, worse a Rangers equivalent or even worse lose the club altogether. I quite enjoy being in the elite Prem and playing the best teams in the country. Go back to Carlisle, Rochdale, Scunthorpe on wet and windy Saturdays - no thank you. Been there, done that, don't want to do it again.
Tan now owns 98% of the club, so he owes himself the money. We are now his to do what he will. Now he has to be clever and keep us in the premier league so he can make money. It is in his interests to keep us there. Malky will go, I think we all know that, but Tan may decide to keep him on board until survival is gauranteed then get rid in close season. Interesting times, better than Dallas!
That's very much how I see it playing out, unless another club forces the issue or MM really pisses off VT one final time. As an alternative slant, has anyone considered that some chairmen may be watching this and thinking MM looks a bit of an ungrateful handful? No one wants to employ someone who'll try to play the fans off against the chairman. The manager really does hold all the cards with regards to fan loyalty. Only thing the chairman can do is write cheques or authorise BACS transfers as Blue points out.........or perhaps not authorise BACS transfers.....
Ultimately Stevo like it or not the owner makes the call. Malky has done well for us but he will lose the game (he knows this) and walk away with a wedge. I appreciate everything Malky has done but now I think it's time he moved on. Fighting political battles in public will only damage him. He's stated clearly he will not resign, now Tan has no option to find a clean way to make the break so he saves face.
As Cardiff fans we have seen false dawns more time than most. Was it Malky who brought the golden nugget that is the Prem., or Tan? True in his first year Malky had to rely on free transfers with a couple of millions in the pot, but Tan had other things to sort out. We need to remember that Sam with his court case against us took us to within 10 minutes of extinction. (Had he won that day Tan would not have paid our tax bill). In the last 18 months Tan has ploughed Millions into the club and we can all list high transfer fees paid will no return also players with no chance of Prem starts given new contracts. Malky's right hand man was sacked and I can see why, his dossiers were not that good. I think Malky's open and some times ill thought speeches in his aid have been a big part of the rift between Malky and Tan. He should have thought of who pays his wages first.
I'm not sure I agree Taff. Why does VT need to play games. His club, his rules. This is where you are wrong stevo, He just cant change things like its his own club. It belongs to the fans more than anyone and cant just make any rule he wishes or eventually he won't have many fans left and no good manager would entertain working for him which will lead to a downward spiral. He is trying his best to get rid of Malky for free and malky is not having any of it. good on him i say..If tan wants him to go then sack him and pay up his contract but we know he does not want that.....Knowing tans track record he probably has some two bit malaysian manager he wants and cant do that until malky leaves....
Two bit Malaysian manager ..............................listen jack we are Cardiff City not your flea bitten town that have managers that on move on ASAP ...............
His track record is one manager employed so far and that hasn't worked out too badly. Personal clashes aside. He can change whatever he wants, it's his club. The fans are just another asset of the club, that is the way the football business works. You could call us customers but its the loyalty aspect that makes us more of an asset than a consumer imo. Very few fans decide to use another brand when their one does something they dont like, which is typical customer behaviour. If it wasn't Tans rules we'd still be playing in blue. If Tan was trying to get MM out why did MM start it by mouthing off in the press? Tan has responded not started this.
"He is trying his best to get rid of Malky for free and malky is not having any of it. good on him i say..If tan wants him to go then sack him and pay up his contract but we know he does not want that.....Knowing tans track record he probably has some two bit malaysian manager he wants and cant do that until malky leaves.... " I don't agree very often with The Oracle but fair play.
I must have missed that Taff. Has the conversion from loans to shares now been completed or is that still the intention? Not doubting you, just not seen it in black and white.
From what I've read Taff is right, Tan has bought 98% of the club, as far as I know he has not put his into shares, though he is not charging interest. I've read that he is looking at floating the club in Malaysia, Singapore, China or even Russia. These places are the biggest for new millionaires with money to burn hence the red shirts (China & Russia) and Dragon (Malaysia, Singapore & China). Tan is upset that his investment has not shown better return (thought we would/should be in the top 10). With the Prem. money going up 1.5Mill for every higher place it makes it easier to sell his dream. With the thought of 10th getting £50m plus close to the same for half his shares he will still own 49% of the club for an outlay of £20m. if you add that he probably own the training site plus other bits and pieces outright not a bad investment. With the investment in the team shared and knowing of the extra income with TV rights in China or Russia there could be mega bucks next year.
Whilst Malky has no doubt spent a few bob what your owner needs to take on board is that many clubs spend that kind of money on a single player. If you survive this season, and your chances of that look reasonable, then that really is success for clubs like ours in this league.
Not sure Malky's recruitment policy has been that bad - Brayford aside (and over the odds for Conrelius - who might still come good) - Velenionka obviously (how much did Malky/Moody have to do with that???) Also theres the likes Ernie, Kiss etc. were only short term anyway. Fact is Caulker has probably doubled his value, Medel purchase a revelation (for about the right price I would say), Theophile Catherine probably worth at least five-fold what we paid for him, same with Turner & Mutch. Gunner, Taylor, Campbell, Cowie, Rudy, Joe haven't exactly set the PL alight, but good solid purchases who are probably worth more now than when we bought them. Not exactly disastrous - and despite MM's overly cautious approach who honestly thought we would have been any further up the table than we are at the moment???
