GET IN!! Shrewsbury 0-1 Charlton According to SSN we are bossing the second half, and are pushing for a second goal...
A Comedy of Errors for Shrewsbury Town at the death, 0-2 to Charlton - the strangest goal we will probably score this season in the 98th minute, and it sounds like a well deserved win.
Fantastic win against the odds. Saturday now our biggest game under the Duchatelet regime. Light at the end of a very long tunnel.
Just seen the goals - we had a few behind the goal Our second goal was comical ...maybe our lunch has turned ?
Judging by the earlier photo of that plate of whatever it was, it's no surprise your lunch has turned.
Will write more once I'm home or tomorrow, would gladly take Shrewsbury in the playoffs, fvck knows how they're third, have a great evening chaps!
Still think Plymouth will finish 5th, so I'm not overly bothered about them. Maybe it's just the high of a really decent and unexpected win, but I don't think Scunthorpe or Peterborough look particularly threatening right now. This Saturday coming is the biggest game of our time in League One so far - it all comes down to the Portsmouth result. In four days time if we defeat Pompey Charlton will be in a great position to finish 6th. We might even still do it if we lose to Blackburn, as long as we beat Rochdale on the final day of the season. If we draw against Portsmouth we will at least deny them 2 points. We will have to hope that other results go our way on Saturday. A defeat at Fratton Park will undo most of the fantastic work done this evening. We won't quite be out of the race, but Charlton would be heavily relying on other results again, so the outlook would be bleak.
One possible set-back from tonight's game; Jake Forster-Caskey picked up a yellow card. I think that's his 10th yellow this season. Doesn't that mean he will be suspended for the Portsmouth and Blackburn games? I hope I am wrong about this.
First half was a non event, nobody looked threatening which gave optimism, think they were overthinking the top two scenario, second half more or the same from them but we looked better going forward, Fosu running at defenders, Magennis winning a few headers, Forster Caskey I'm not a big fan of, but deserves a place in the team for his set piece deliveries alone. Last 10 minutes seemed to drag, the 98th minute second could be crucial with goal diff. Not trying to put a downer on it but they were almost as bad as us on Saturday. Pompey losing tonight was just as important, Saturday couldn't be any bigger. Surprisingly nice stadium, very good steak and ale pie, as I said earlier, hope to be back there in May for playoff semis. Roland out
I did speculate on ITTV that for Charlton to secure a win last night Shrewsbury would have to have a poor game as well as Charlton playing well. Not trying to take anything away from Lee Bowyer and his players, but it sounds as if that is more or less what happened. We grew in confidence and took advantage of the situation towards the end of the game, and just for once we profited from a Keystone Cops moment in another team's defence. The important thing is that we got the 3 points, but it is also encouraging that we apparently finished the game as the better team. Roll on Saturday!
