Yes, but the advantage is that the stewards wouldn't know if the fans were standing!

All this talk of a Solar System cup is ridiculous.

We all know that the only other life in the solar system is on Mars with Martians, so the cup would always be Earth vs Mars. I suspect home advantage though would be a premium.

This is all after we have terraformed and inhabited all the large bodies in the solar system.

The one thing I don't envy in the young is their youth. How much happier am I now than I was at that age. I'm probably fitter too but that has more to do the various excesses I used to indulge in than anything else!

If I had to settle on one age for eternity I think I'd go for something in the late 30's.

Wouldn't want to be really young again...all that angst and caring what other people think of you. Thirty onwards was pretty good...grown up but still young enough. Forties and fifties was good as a woman...no one looking at you, so just being clean and tidy was enough when you went out. I love being retired and free...though health problems kick in at this age. Enjoy whatever age you are...there's nothing you can do about it anyway :)

Read a funny thing recently: Middle age is when the phone rings on a Saturday night and you hope its not for you.

Jupiter revolves every 10 hours so Centipedes with incredible armoured carapaces*. The ball probably wouldn't bounce much either and whoever won the toss should definitely play with the wind in the 1st half.

*Try reading Mission of Gravity by Hal Clement to see where I got that idea Joe, it's an oldie but a goody.

I've hoped it's not for me since I was about seven... does that mean I'm middle aged?

The wind is not caused by the fast rotation of the planet - and anyone on the surface (though it is a gaseous planet so no real surface) would not feel the effects of the rotation (we revolve at 24,000 miles an hour and don't notice). The gravity is much higher on Jupiter - over 2.5 times what it is here, so whilst the mass of the ball is the same, the weight is 2.5 more. If we played with a beach ball we should be good. The strong upper atmosphere winds could cause a problem, but down on the surface things could be a lot better (similar to our jet stream )

What surface would we play on? Bet even our award-winning groundsmen would struggle growing grass on Titan or Jupiter. Grass can grow through concrete and tarmac, but might struggle in that atmosphere.

On Jupiter we'd need a stadium suspended in the air with balloons like in Up, as Jupiter has no surface. Titan is one of the most Earth-like bodies in our solar system so that should be one of the easier ones. Just flatten some of those sand dunes and build a stadium anywhere. If we can't be arsed to terraform, artificial turf will have to do.

The gravity on Jupiter would mean that all the football would be played on the ground, with players physically incapable of getting it in the air. On Titan, the gravity would be similar to that of our moon, and would make a very fun game!

Has he? Because there isn't a surface.
