i cant understand why you would rather see a burglary of your house dealt with by the inevitable slapping of a wrist rather than dish out your own punishment

Oh for ****'s sake. I don't agree with either of those approaches ya dick. I think people should be properly punished but that should not involve handing out vigilante justice.

If we went down your road the lawyers would be rubbing their hands with glee. Can you imagine how many court cases there would be with people being charged with assault, battery, or even manslaughter or murder if they got carried away in taking their revenge? Not to mention what would happen if they got the wrong person.

And who's to say what's acceptable retribution? Is hitting someone on the head acceptable if they burgle your house? Is kicking someone in the nuts acceptable if they're drunk and shouting abuse at you?

    Who decides?

it just astounds me your level of passive nature towards serial offending criminals.

    Such as?

And, by the way, I like how you ignore the points I raise and keep exaggerating. It's now serial offenders I notice.

your refusal to dish out your own punishment. maybe not as far as giving the ****er brain damage, although he would no doubt deserve it. just a small beating. and i refuse to believe someone whos the victim of a serious crime wouldnt like to see some sort of painful punishment inflicted on the perpetrator, no matter how "morally correct" they are

So that's your alternatives then? It's either a slap on the wrist or a beating. And, again, you've ignored the points I raised so I'll reiterate:

If we went down your road the lawyers would be rubbing their hands with glee. Can you imagine how many court cases there would be with people being charged with assault, battery, or even manslaughter or murder if they got carried away in taking their revenge? Not to mention what would happen if they got the wrong person.

it's a rare thing when criminals who are caught are doing it for the first ever time.

And how do you decide how the person burgling your house is a first time criminal or a criminal with a long history of criminal activity?

Are you starting to understand yet?

You're missing the point. There are times when I feel like taking the law into my own hands but I'm not allowed to. Go back and look at the points I raised earlier.

And if you're not getting justice from the police, complain. If more people complained in this country about the ****e service we get then things might start to improve.

i don't imagine many would choose to launch their own revenge. most would leave it in the hands of the police, it's only the vulnerable and weak of mind and body who leave it to them <ok>

most crims have a long history of it..and if they're unlucky to have been caught during their first time, oh well. maybe the beating will stop them doing it again in the future and knock some sense into them

How do you know? You make things sound so simple and black and white but when it comes to the law it's anything but.

Yeah, very good. And what happens if the person has something mentally wrong with them?
