Yeah , i just re watched on Foxtel and we didnt look to bad at all. Looked like we put up a good game...on TV!!
We weren't too bad, but we needed to be a bit better, more aggressive than that! I have been very critical of MH game plan on here, but in defense of him maybe the players simply didn't have the legs on them after 3 games in 6 days to be more aggressive. That doesn't excuse him changing a winning team by playing Derry for Buz, or his cr*p substitions though.
We saw SWP have a shot that was on target but blocked by a defender yesterday. Not sure it's the same one you meant but the problem was and it's typical of his total lack of condidence at present (and this present has been present since about November) wa sthe defender was standing right in front of him when the ball came to him and his shot was always going to be blocked! He didn't have the confidence to control the ball and make space to shoot, but just swung his leg at it hopefully.
I was going to say I couldn't possibly come back at such a good post from Peter Damage, then I seen Queenslander's riposte and well, what can one say? He's put it far more eloquently than I could. So that's us done Col. Time to step back and let these young guns duke it out.
Passion for QPR counts as much as eloquence on this forum Swords, and despite being a bit of an arse , you have never been lacking there. Peter Damageâs post was damn good though, I hope you consider yourself well and truly told. By the way mate, where do you stand on the Derry in for Buz argument?
i have watched the game twice in full and i said it at the time we are honestly not that bad in fact its looking very very good... the fickle are better off just looking at the result ... we lost live with it however we can at last play again and look a lot more dangerous than anyone in the bottom 10 ... hence we can and will raise our game
Sitting in a hotel room in Kobe, Japan heavily jet lagged. Only found out the result a couple of hours ago. The response on here has been as predictable as ever. Stunningly short memories - MH wrong according to all the armchair managers, despite being a genius 3 days ago. Zamora crap, despite one of the best CF performances I have seen in recent years v Gooners. Buz should have played instead of Derry, despite nearly everyone wanting Derry back after Swansea. Tarbs is either too essential ever to sub ( though he was very frequently last season) or unpickable. Sometimes i think that some posters must have been gene spliced with goldfish. I haven't seen any of the game, so I'm going to take Justin's perspective as its the one I like best. This was never on my must win list, the home games and Chelsea away will do it for us.
It makes no sense at all, is it impossible for a manager to get it right one game and get it wrong the next game? All this coming from someone who never even saw the game. As for people not saying they want Buz in http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/137136-Fitting-Derry-Back-in me: "I hope we keep Buz in the team, Derry is not better and Buz can always get a goal out of nothing from a long shot or set piece." Exactly what they did, a goal out of nothing. "We have them in Barton and Diakite. If we play a 451, we must not have 3 defensive midfielders and Buzs tackling is very underrated." I called it before the game, its not hindsight. The proof that he got it wrong is how much better we looked in the 2nd half with a different formation and the fact that he took Derry off.
Iâm not getting into a pointless argument with you Flyer, but I donât think that youâve read SBâs post properly. He is not commenting on the teamâs performance or Hughesâs selection but the comments on this forum. One minute Hughes is a genius, the next he is a moron. Buszaky was the devil incarnate and should never wear the hoops again after the home match against West Brom, now he is clearly far better than a player whose unjust sending off cost us the match against United. When Barton was signed he was the greatest thing since sliced bread (except for a few conscientious objectors), then he became the most loathed player of all time, now everyoneâs hero again. Clearly none of these positions are correct. On this forum there rarely appears to be any middle ground, amongst the more prolific posters at least. Everything is either fantastic or appalling, someone is either the greatest or the worst. You may have noticed that many of the long established posters disappear after a defeat, ever thought why?
People are just saying Hughes got it wrong which is 100% correct. We are also saying he got it much better in the 2nd half after he made changes. No one is calling for him to get the sack or anything stupid. Most people are quite balanced and he is seeing things that arent there. Maybe people wont discuss a defeat because they cant admit the truth? People are going to dissect a defeat and look at anything that went wrong, people should stay away if they cant handle that.
Another perfect demonstration of the Mike Basset mentality. Where as I addressed individual points raised and rationally explained why I thought these are wrong you instead randomly rant and scatter points about that fit your own fixed and pre-conceived ideas. Reason for this appears to be a weird grudge against him based in his personality type and playing style clashing with your old school football mentality. Because of your scatter gun approach it isnât possible to have a reasoned debate but I think subconsciously you recognise Adelâs attributes. You only have to look at the fact that in your criticism of him you feel the need to reference the likes of Rooney, Scholes and Bergkamp. This isnât something that would have happened when discussing SWP. Lots of players were important for us last year. None more so that Adel and it is because of him that we are now in the position to use our funds and sign players like Cisse and Diakite. Since Hughes has come in Adel has performed very well all round but he can do better and he will do better. This team is still developing and has been unsettled all year. Things will improve and do seem to be improving. Your comment about having talent like a bloke in the local park again shows just how irrational your opinion is. Now Iâm not sure what your internet connection is like but I can tell you he has a lot more talent than the âbloke down the local parkâ. If not Mike Rigg needs to make his first job getting himself over to where you are. He is only 22 now and so has another 10 years to improve, learn and mature. Recent evidence suggest he will do. Now that Barton is performing it seems a lot of Rangers fans are looking for someone to blame/ moan at. For me and some others it remains SWP and for the Mike Basset personality types the target of your frustrations is Adel. SWP is more acceptable to you because he fits the mould of a try hard but seemingly talentless player that we Rangers are so much more used to. I genuinely believe for all of Adelâs failing he deserves a lot more respect, patience and tolerance than he is given. If we are to survive we need Adel to be on form so lets back him and not slag him.
I watched the game throughout. We didn't lose because of individual performances. We lost because as an energy we were as flat as a pancake from beginning to end, as many observed on here at the time. As I've said on other threads, we lacked the sense of URGENCY that was so evident in our wins against Liverpool, Arsenal and Swansea. From the 75th minute against Liverpool and throughout the other two games, we were tight at the back, in their faces in midfield and determined to strike at every opportunity. Conversely, against Sunderland and WBA, we were lack-lustre. We did not get in their faces anything like enough and often left them with acres of space before even thinking of closing them down. We also lacked the sense of occasion and killer touch up front. Right from the off we saw the signs of things to come when Zamora was put clear through on goal and with only the keeper and a slow moving defender to beat, he fluffed the opportunity as though it never existed... even in real time it looked like slow-mo such was its lack of intensity. In one of the posts above, someone correctly points out how Traore had lost us precious time in the dying minutes... and he wasn't the only one was he? We talk about survival in the prem as we do in life but the difference is in life our survival instinct is rarely that casual. As I said above, it wasn't so much about our individual performances as about our team mindset. Personally I don't think that Buz starting for Derry or replacing him later would've made any difference to our energy levels. (For the purists, Buz scored against Wigan, was picked and subsequently choked in the next game.) I also don't think Taarabt's performance against WBA was that bad. Whilst he has yet to repeat the level of threat posed in the latter aspect of the Wolves debacle, he did his job as a creative mid and worried the **** out of the defence. Just lucky for them things ventured went without gain on the day. Certainly don't see why Hughesy decided to pull him off - especially for the hapless SWP - but then, like my MD, he doesn't consult me before stepping in the **** (perhaps he should eh?!).
Cheers Roller.........I think?!! I can see why Hughes put Derry back in as playing Buz ahead of him away from home, particularly at Blackburn, has been disastrous. Unfortunately Dezza only seems to have about one good game in him for every month which is not good enough at this level. However, despite us being flat as a Witches Tit yesterday, I do think we'd have gotten summat if Cisse was playing. But for the want of a goal-scorer this season, we'd be safe by now.
SB! I am well p*ssed off with how MH set us up yesterday, but then I never called him a genius against Swansea. For me he's taken too long in finding our best formation 4- 2-3-1 which we used best and usually under NW. That he eventually got back there for Arsenal and Swansea was hardly genius! For me he is also way too defensive in away games especially yesterday when it was a game we really needed to win and could have. I don't agree that any of our remaining games give us a better chance of 3 points, arguably Stoke but thats it. If we beat Spuds, Chelsea or Citey most followers of football will call it a shock.
here we go again one step forward & two back we're just not good enough, we should have had at least taken a point on current form but again shot ourselves in the foot we poor finishing, zamora 4 good chances & anyone know why campbell was not on bench?. we made wba look good due to abysmal display again, ok i hope we can escape & if we do then next season will be different kettle of fish which i'm desperate for it to happen & see.
I was at the game yesterday and all the QPR fans around me were surprised that Adel had been taken off
