Story in todays paper about man taken to court for injuring a career criminal. It seems to me that if a man attacks an intruder they both risk injury. If the burglar comes off worst the victim should never be taken to court, no matter how bad the injury. It is a risk the intruder chooses to take.

100% agreed.
The blokes mrs and kids were asleep upstairs while this druggie ****e was ransacking the house.
The only shame is that bloke didn’t finish the job with the lump hammer he had available.
Hope he is suing the ****ing old bill for false arrest. If the filth were out doing their job properly the streets would be safe.

Did jury service on a very similar case many years ago.

An Englishman's home is his castle and anyone that enters uninvited should expect to receive the full force of resistance. If that results in the intruders death then so be it. That is basically how it used to be in english law and the sooner we return to upholding those principals the better.

Being pedantic, but strictly speaking, the victim wasn’t attacked on the street.

There was a funny one near me a couple of years back. Local man passing a neighbors house spotted a lad trying to climb out a window after breaking in. He caught him, gave him a thumping and threw him in a river that pass d beside the house. Fair play to the cops when they arrived, they turned a blind eye to what he’d done

Music to my ears that. Didn't know the Irish had such common sense.
