Gentlemen - gentlemen, gentlemen, gentlemen... yes, we all recognise things have been, and could be, worse. Let’s take that as the first agreement.
Do we want things (for NUFC) to be better? Yes - agreement number 2
Do we believe that a multi billion pound ownership would make ‘better’ possible? .... we’ll get less sure here, but I hope we agree it would be at least ‘possible’... if behaviour was principled and avoided an ESL type appetite.
Do we believe a multi billion pound ownership would make NUFC’s ‘better’ an actual guarantee? Obviously not, we’re not idiots!
Do we believe it’s worth the risk?
and that’s the Million dollar question to which NOBODY knows the answer ... my own response is you don’t know till you try; I saw no evidence that PIF wanted anything other than a good, wholesome sportswash, without rocking the boat ... the boat trembles were getting higher finishes and winning trophies (within the existing structure).
Given the choice of the race for 17th v something else, I’d very much want to give ‘something else’ a go. The worst that happens is a relegation; and we’ve been there ... so **** it.
There’s no absolutes, no guarantees, and maybe that’s part of why we love the club and the game.... we are a family, we love the unknown - we can argue about our beliefs, but we can’t deny each other’s dreams
