Here’s a positive thought... Perhaps the Saudi’s banned BEIN to use it as leverage with the PL. if the PL want to influence the pirate free KSA to unblock the broadcast then what better way than to agree the sign off in return for it. the KSA come out of it clean as they will claim is was their courts ruling on a case from 2018, predating the takeover but they moved heaven and earth to reverse the courts decision in the spirit of openness. the only logical theory as to why they would ban it in the first place... ie to unban it at a later date. This is the main thing I’ve struggled with until now.
No, KSA banned Bein from a case in 2018 to do with issues in 2016, the recent ban follows a rejected appeal. The point is piracy should have no say in this takeover. Once the PIF said they weren't, and this was then backed up by the WTO report, that should have been the green light. The O&D test is about individuals having no criminal record, and being able to afford a club. My current issue with the whole process is that should be the end of it, except it appears the PL are either siding with Bein (which is far from independent or unbiased) or using it as leverage (which is very close to blackmail). It would be the death knell for the PL as it stands if they are guilty of either, so the only hope, in my eyes, is this is actually all approved and it's timing that's the issue. This is how it SHOULD be. Which is why I think the 27th/28th are absolutely critical - there are zero excuses or reasons from there, so no takeover means it's off.
surely all the objections have been made now... it's seems to get whipped up again every time it's reported to be close. Maybe it's finally simmering enough ?
That’d be sort of eeerrrmm, well, actual blackmail mate. I know that’s how they probably roll, but as a strategy to try and convince the PL to sign them off as ‘fit and proper’ persons, I’m not sure it’d be the best strategy I’ve ever heard like.
