I think it's the renaming of the stadium. It's far and away the largest commercial spomsorship (kit is different) we can do. City got £400m up front for a 10 year deal with Etihad. With a similarly sized stadium we could do a £300m 10 year deal, pocket all the cash, spend like mental and then in a few years decide we're moving to a new "Aramco Arena" which then doesn't quite hit PSR.

In addition, the government intervention will mean PIF saying "we want to spend £1bn and create 10,000 jobs in Newcastle, it just isn't going through Newcastle United" means we get an 80,000 stadium in Leazes Park with nothing touching the books. Newcastle United then take out a 99 year lease for £1 a year.

Now why couldn't Hung have just said all that in first place, rather leave us hanging.

Nope, don't read Twitter. Was from Hung's cryptic response and the fact there's been talk of naming rights since the new owners walked in the door. As I say, City set a precedent with a ridiculous £400m 10 year deal, that the PL (short sightedly) didn't block. That makes it impossible for them to block us doing similar, just as we were able to get a huge deal with Adidas again thanks to other clubs (in this case, Man U) getting crazy money for theirs. We just shave a bit off but they would struggle to argue. And additionally it's a way around the rules - if Aramco want to pay for 10 years, up front, and it legitimately shows on the books then there's **** all the PL can do about it.

Unfortunately it does because they brought in fair market value on sponsorship and it's based on what Newcastle can realistically get and not what other clubs have. They also now have to prove they can get other offers from companies not owned by PIF within a similar amount I believe.

I'm sure they can get a sponsor ,but nothing close to what the big 6 can get.

Sure, but I think it's becoming clear that nothing dramatic will be changing for a number of years if not a decade.

Man city have no impact on what is fair market value for Newcastle. It isn't fair market as in compared with other clubs.

If Hung was just going on about this new digital partnership with Quidd, then I think he shoud be publicly flogged on the pitch at SJP for stringing that one our for so long.
