imo 3 or 4 top players is the way fwd .. not smashing down a midtable side and complete rebuild.. just add quality each window...
Agreed. Also on a personal level I am against just ripping up contracts of players who have even stuck with us during relegations and saying "ok, **** you guys, bye bye." It's just not something I personally like to see at a club. Shelvey had previously stated he wanted to be with us til retirement, he clearly likes the club. I see no reason to sell such a player, or Ritchie, Almiron, Max, tons of them. They can keep some normality at the club, keep everyone grounded.
Should have sold Shelvey when he was being reported at 30 mil, likewise when Ritchie was in the 20-30 mil bracket and Longstaff for 50 mil when we had the chance.
tbf, that's hindsight, we had no idea a few group of owners were round the corner and that we had no guarantee that we would replace them with equivalent players. We could have signed 3 **** players and got relegated. Again.
its already a solid side with a good group spirit and that's worth a great deal, so it's important to build on that.
Remember when Chelsea were sniffing around Lascelles for about £20m I think about 3 seasons ago...maybe more. We should have snapped their ****ing hands off. Hindsight is such a wonderful thing innit?
All I had to do to get banned was ask on their takeover thread "So out of curiosity, when are they taking full control?"
@Hung,Drawn and Quartered Twatter claiming there's a bunch more people at the ground and a lot of claims of a 5pm announcement/press release.
