The takeover is finished... There's no intention to leave their domestic competitions. This isn't going to be different it's merely about ending the threat to the top 6 positions and the opportunity for investment in clubs outside those positions. It's about killing the rise of Leicester, Everton, villa, wolves and all others. It's about the eternal death of the competition domestically and the death of all other clubs in the country. They aren't going to throw them out the league.
It isn't just up to the EFL though. The FA, UEFA and FIFA may well get a say in minimum sanctions and penalties.
It isn't their choice to make!! The only question is how much strength the authorities are willing to show for their long term survival, and it is a fight for survival. This is just the first battle between the clubs and FIFA for control of the game.
After a very cursory Google search, the estimated combined debt of the proposed 12 members of the European Super League is: £7.169 Billion. They shouldn't be allowed to run a bath, let alone a ****ing league.
I was thinking the same mate. It's clear Masters is dead against this ESL, we're about to see how big his balls are in terms of what they do next. If the top 6 have had an influence on proceedings thus far regarding our takeover then I would fully expect Masters to just turn around and say you know what lads....**** you, you clearly have no regard for the domestic game, for the fans or football in general....Takeover approved....here you go MBS, go ****ing nuts mate and ruin these ****s !!!
If they don't and do start this other league, then I (and I suspect many many others) will be finished with football.
There's too much money involved for it to not happen. The other clubs will just accept their positions and fight it out for the scraps
They will know that if they don't fight they are signing their own death warrants. Too many vested interests to give that up without a fight
I really hope it doesn't happen, but I think it's going ahead this time. I think the premier league eufa etc are all bluffing..
I don't agree, but this finishes it forever imo. Even the threat of this happening is enough to put investors off buying smaller clubs. They can't grow the club.
@Joelinton's Right Foot how about any team in this super league cannot play in the PL until they are out of it? That way if they manage to be in the championship and win it/runner up etc they'll never be promoted and those before will take their place?
That's a good shout. That way EFL clubs can benefit from shares in gate receipts, at zero risk of impacting their promotion aspirations.
