Honestly think he'll go 4-2-3-1 tonight and blame the loss on players not understanding the formation.
Murphy is useless.. OK he can cross, but he gives the ball away far too much.. He thinks he's Ronaldo.. He's crap
How many false 10's, though? If he was sensible and took a look at past results he'd go 5-3-2. Maybe even 4-4-2. Then he needs to pick players who actually play in those positions. It's Bruce, though, he's bound to do something ****ing stupid. For me, from what we have, Lascelles would come in for Fede (injured) in the middle of 3 CB's. I'd go with Murphy and Lewis on either flank. A midfield trio of Shelvey central, Sean holding the mid-right and Almiron the left, with the latter tasked with getting possession up the field and between them supporting the strikers. Almost having Shelvey deep-lying, but near Sean who's CM and Almiron who's attacking. Joelinton slightly deeper and more roaming, Wilson up front. I wouldn't be asking wingbacks to get to the by line, I'd be getting them to swing crosses in from Robertson/Alexander Arnold areas so we aren't exposed. The strikers are more dynamic that way.
I don't get why it is so difficult to employ a 5-3-2 formation. Schar, Fernández and Dummett as CB's, two wing backs, Murphy and Manquillo, Hayden as CDM, Almiron as a free roving CAM who hovers behind the front two and someone like Matty Longstaff as the other sitting midfielder. Stick Wilson and Gayle up front. Or God forbid, Wilson and Carroll/ Joelinton as more of a support striker.
Same. But that side I have just put up is defensively sound but offers a lot going forward. Manquillo, Murphy, Almiron and Wilson with bags of pace. Carroll wins aerial balls and knocks down to Wilson. Both complement and create space for the other drawing away opposition CB's. Almiron can drop back and defend and explode at pace. Why is it so difficult for a professional manager to see that? Benitez played that way with Rondon and Perez.
Doesn't matter if you've got 5 cbs and 3 cms behind them.... Joelinton, Almiron, Murphy and Wilson should start
