Having said that he was rated good enough to get the top job, the England managers job. And look how he cocked that up. It's not just his style of play, it's his personality, attitude, self importance, big headedness, boring dull drone that makes me want to puke.
on Sam I think Everton fans are being unfair but then people were saying that bout saints fans re. Puel. I guess it's best not to judge other fans from the outside. that said am hoping the weird mood at Everton plays into our hands come Saturday.
I get what your saying but if the club wanted to keep Hughes then in my view us in the championship for some one of Hughes ability would be to good a chance for Hughes to turn down. Hughes is no Benitez and Newcastle kept hold of him.
He is under contract, so he can't just decide to go as so many people think. So he fancies Hughes as his manager whichever league we find ourselves in. If we go down, some players will inevitably leave...some because they don't suit us or the league and some because it doesn't suit us financially....but none should be allowed to leave just because they might want to. I would say to those players...you got us here, so you can blooming well stay and get us out of here. I would be amazed if any of our players have a get out clause....they just aren't at that standard. More likely that they face drops in pay upon relegation.
Seriously? After all those players wanting away these last few years?? I read the other week that Tadic will leave at the end of the season irrespective of which league we are in (along with Bertrand, Boufal and possibly Cedric). Personally, I would be sorry to see Tadic go as he is one of our more talented players but would similarly wish him luck if he moves on (doesn't really owe us anything). Still a bit surprised that so much of the discussion is about our life in the Championship. Sparky has not given up yet and is urging the players to be similarly focused. We should follow suit IMO. Credit to Sparky for starting to turn things around and I hope for his sake that he succeeds in his mission. I still reckon (with Huddersfield's run in) that one more win could be enough and two will seal survival. Whether I want him to be manager next year is still undecided. I think we can do better as an EPL club (Tuchel?) and a mid-table finish as he achieved with Stoke doesn't really match my own ambitions for the club. But.... .....whilst there was not too much wrong with Claude and MP2 their 'cautious' approach to games and emphasis on possession at the expense of pacy high tempo football has set us back on our long-term plan do maybe Sparky is the best we can get at the minute. My biggest concern is the high number of yellow cards we have acquired since he came - a pattern consistently mirrored in his previous managerial appointments.
Players can't leave just because they want to if under contract. Players left either because the offer was considered too good and/or we decided it would be a pain to keep them. They couldn't just do it....as shown by the fuss Schneiderlin made when told no.
I don't think there is any doubt Saints have been playing a different style of football and despite some recent losses I think most would agree that Saints players themselves seem to be able to put that little bit extra in. To suggest we should sign sparky up for the following two/three seasons surely is a bit premature. The Euphoria of actually winning a league match against lowly Bournemouth (Sorry Bournemouth fans no insult intended) is to me a bit over the top. Now, had we won against Chelsea as we should have done drawn at Leicester and still beat Bournemouth Then yes I would say sparky has earned his spurs. He's got an interesting couple of matches coming up lets see how things pan out. Dont get me wrong I am not saying it should depend on whether he can keep us up or not as I feel he hasn't been given enough time and matches but I hope sincerely that I am wrong.
To be honest, I was actually gutted when he was sacked from the England job. It would have been fascinating to see what he could get from them.
