I don't think anyone has really said that they rated him. I thought he looked quite good at Championship level and I think some of us feel that it's a shame we didn't see the best of him due to the injuries. I wish him well but I am not particularly sad to see him move on. Re CBKs post, who was saying that they thought he was a great player? I just don't agree that he is a poor player.
I wish him the best but even when he played I felt he was a bit over-rated by some. Hopefully Barnard, Sharp, Martin and Forte will follow him out of the door sooner rather than later.
Why? I think Barnard, Martin and Forte's contracts are up so they will be leaving soon... but why is it so important they leave? Forte is more-or-less permanently on loan so he's not using up club resources. It's not like they just leave and their contracts disappear, freeing up massive amounts of cash. Most of them don't make that much in the first place. And if they go, you pay them the remainder of the money owed and release them, or you split the money in some fashion with another club.
Ok Channon, I think you get my point. Shall I save this and review it the day Ramirez goes? My post is not about how good Tadanari Lee is, but more how 'gentile' people are being about a player who has made close to no impact at the club, been no where near the first team for two years, yet Ramirez gets hammered. I'm sure he'll be hammered when he leaves. I'm not slating Lee.
Lee didn't cost 15 million pounds and come with a massive reputation. They are completely different scenarios
Yes, I think that is the point. For the record, were Ramirez leave tomorrow then I would feel, again, that we didn't see the best of him. Obviously a gifted player, he has had his own injury problems and perhaps has found it difficult to adjust to our style of play, whatever. I would, rather like Lee, be left wondering how good he could have been?
That came across as harsher than it was meant. I hope they move on because I think they all have a decent shot at playing at a lower level, which I would think they would find more fulfilling than training pointlessly with Saints.
no, price has nothing to do with it, or should I say shouldn't have anything to do with it. My point is that a player who has contributed well in two games gets a pat on the back and a warm smile, but I bet Ramirez gets battered. Miles better player.
it does matter in the sense tadanari wasn't a big investment that tied up capital and even though gaston hasn't lived up to expectations we could probably recoup the fee we paid or more. if the proposition was keep gaston or pay up his contract and say bye, I think most if not all would keep gaston.
Yes, but that is some football fans. I have lost count of the number of times that, following one poor performance, some numbskull kneejerks rush to their keyboards to type, "he should never pull on the shirt again". I don't honestly see how we can judge Ramirez; he simply hasn't played sufficient games for me to form a fixed opinion. Apart from the suspicion that at that price, Saints would have expected to have gotten more hours on the grass than has actually happened.
Tadanari Lee has signed for Urawa Red Diamonds. They had a press conference and photoshoot and everything. http://gazzalog.tumblr.com/post/73662188013/viranesque-17-01-2014-tadanari-lee-with-the
